Oh, no shit! You're fucking kidding me man! I was JUST listening to Darkest Before Dawn and sulking about the fact that the "King Push" album didn't come out in April as originally promised. Seriously, it was mere moments ago that I was cruising along, thinking, "Damn, it's the end of May... All of my hip-hop dreams for 2016 have come true, even the ones I didn't think ever would (Kanye), and didn't even bother to hope for (new Kendrick) — except for the ONE release I was totally counting on. So this is very good news indeed. And With a guest spot from fucking Jay-Z?! Damn. |

You know how much Pusha looks up to Hov, so finally getting a feature from Hov must be a big moment for him. Plus Hov on a song about coke is always guaranteed to deliver a great verse. I think King Push is slated for release next month, by the way. |
Oh we're talking about rap again. Carry on

Well, whatever it is, it's not bad. I let's got "Uber Everywhere" and I dig that song. I kinda thought DatPiff was pretty reliable when it came to mixtapes. Reputable at least. They seem to release a lot of the higher profile releases, and I've never questioned the validity of the releases before. Hmm. Oh well. So when's Birds in the Trap actually coming out? |

Yeah, it should be excellent. Crossing my fingers over here. I want Jay to come with something fierce. It's been a minute. |

rap. hip hop. I've been gathering facts and yes, rap. hip hop again? tis is the café after all. lost interest a while ago. just not digging nothing feel me. |
"Drug Dealers Anonymous" is a Tidal exclusive for the time being. I no longer subscribe to Tidal, so I've only heard snippets. Sounds promising, but I have to hear the Jay verse before I can make a ruling.

Did y'all see Anderson Peak on Fallon? He killed it.

Ok so this song is FIRE. Both Pusha and Hov killed it. Still need more listens to decide who had the better verse.

DJ Dahi's production here is so next level.. sounds like some futuristic DJ Premier shit, damn.

"Tried to build a cell around me
Snatched my nigga Emory up Tried to get him to tell about me He told 12, “Gimme 12” He told them to go to hell about me" "Life made me ambidextrous Countin’ with my right, whipping’ white with my left wrist" Yup, JAY Z is back. |

I get what you're saying. Flume and Autechre aren't anything alike. But I didn't so much mean to lump them together as to point out that Flume is an example of good mainstream EDM, and that the new album is one of the reasons why I still listen to pop electronic music because it's actually really fucking good. The point I was trying to make was that without albums like Skin (and Lantern, and to a lesser extent 99%, because it's less EDM and more beat/hip-hop) I would give up on popist stuff, and only listen to stuff like Autechre. But yeah, it's clear that the artists have about as much in common as Beck and Sonic Youth. Less, really. But I do like pretty much all varieties of electronic music, and I don't pay a hell of a lot of attention to the sub-and sub-sub-genres when talking casually, because it's just much easier to say "electronic music." I know Flume isn't cool or whatever, but the album's good, makes my ears happy. I get where you're coming from though. |

Oh come on, that ambidextrous line is fucking awesome. Granted, I haven't heard the track in full yet. Don't have time to now. But I kinda doubt you and I are going to agree about this one. You, who hate Jay, and I, who love him despite his many (many, many) missteps. I just want that fire motherfucker who blew my mind with Reasonablr Doubt, Blueprint, Black Album, American Gangster and Blurprint III back (and who solidly impressed me, on occasion, on Vol.1 & 2, Kingdom Come, and MCHG). I just want Jay-Z to make one more killer album. Not one with Beyoncé... She doesn't need him, and would only make him sound lame. Just another Muhammad Ali of hip-hop joint before he goes geriatric. |
