if the family can’t join you, maybe it’s time to plan for your return?

Bullshit thought of the day: Some may think of playing with a frisbee as pure casual fun, but it's actually quite intense. It's an epic struggle between two or more parties unsuccessfully trying to get rid of an undesired object. It gets passed around like some sort of currency. Only no one actually wants that damn thing. "There you go, take it." - "No! You take it." - "The fuck I will.". It's one of the few instances people actively say no to material possessions. Some deep shit right there.

choc e-Claire 09.05.2020 06:03 PM

I think you've taken a Frisbee to the head too many times :D

I am disappointed by your lack of faith. But I am certain one day you too will learn the truth about those spinning discs. And we'll all acknowledge the sacrifices made by those fine people on camping site 4. The struggle is real. :D

HEB supermarket on Labor Day is a crazy place to be. Judging by the over stuffed shopping carts......the local economy is flourishing!!!

There are people who've been hanging on this forum's precursor since before you were born, lol.

It's still amazing to me though that after all this time, close to a decade after the Youff disbanded, there are still new people, hell, entirely new generations of people signing up here to be a part of the conversation. It's amazing there even still is a conversation at all. Not exclusively but in no small part thanks to folks like you, hats off to ya, big time.

_slavo_ 09.11.2020 04:20 AM

I remember when I first joined this place, I was still in university and NYC Ghosts & Flowers was just coming out.

Time flies.

Picked up my year 12 hoodie from school today, looks nice and comfortable. No great loyalty to my school, but I mostly got it so I didn't miss out.

Hey, such articles sometimes are the best things to take away from certain schools. No kidding. I absolutely hated the school I graduated from, but if nothing else, I got to keep a good kitchen knife (actually a whole set of useful kitchen utensils) and a few nice recipes in the process. Yeah, I went to a school with mandatory cooking classes.

With every passing house if commons session Johnson looks more and more useless. A chancer who's been found out. Shame we've got another 4½ years of this.

I don't listen to them nearly as much anymore, but I'm still head over heels for them. I'm still pretty heavy on jpop....lol.

Dr. Eugene Felikson 09.27.2020 03:04 PM

I'm still primarily a metalhead, but am glad I got to see SY live at least once when they were still together. Even got to meet Thurston later on during a solo show. There's a reason I have the Bad Moon Rising art inked on my right bicep.

I view Sonic Youth with the same amount of warmth which I reflect on my childhood KoRn obsession with. Both groups were pivotal in forming my taste as an adult. Still love weird guitar sounds to death.

Had it not been for Sonic Youth, I'd have never ended up here and explored all the post-punk and shoegaze during my late teens as I did. Hell, even dabbled into the noise scene for a second - got to meet Wolf Eyes and everything!

It's come full circle ultimately. Now I mostly listen to a lot of Deftones. Best of both worlds. Black and doom metal too. Meh.

Dr. Eugene Felikson 09.27.2020 03:07 PM

Seriously - SYG even aided me into leaning heavily into artsy fartsy flicks and everything. I learned so much here.

Sonic Youth 37 09.27.2020 04:48 PM

Same! Pretty much why I still love them to hell and back. Yeah....I might not binge on them like I used to, but fuck me Kill Yr Idols is still the bets song ever.

choc e-Claire 09.29.2020 10:22 PM

I got something in a few weeks ago, but I haven't given it a second look really - mostly through choice paralysis. My worries have been about applying for scholarships, but that's not due in for another week and I want to have a talk before then.

Dr. Eugene Felikson 09.30.2020 04:13 PM

This working from home shit is getting old very quickly.

I do alright for myself. Make about 40k a year, renting a home I intend to own by this time next year, and am so bored by the whole 'party lifestyle' I used to adore as a teen/20 something.

Truthfully, I've lost a lot of passion for things. I can't tell if it's the current climate or what. I'm exhausted daily, yet I can't ever sleep.

I also have found my viewpoints leaning more on the Libertarian side of things as I take on more responsibilities in life. I still enjoy art, culture - okay I like video games, music, movies, and books as I always did - and beautiful women... but I'm not as loud and annoying as I think I once was.

Preferably, I keep to myself and just wanna maintain my own. Don't want anyone fucking with it.

Tax funded healthcare would be tight. I can't argue with that. I don't think either candidate plans on giving that to me though. Biden lies through his teeth in general. I voted for Bernie because he was so heartfelt. I felt like he cared about me. Biden seems like he's just parroting the things he thinks I want to hear.

Don't step on me, geezer.

EVOLghost 09.30.2020 04:16 PM

Yeah. When it comes to politics n shit....at this point...I just want sustainability. We have made LEAPS OF PROGRESS and all it has been doing is leaving earth as a wasteland. I don't indentify as a democrat but I vote democrat because well...it's all I have at this point. They tend to be the ones pushing a progressive agenda.

Dr. Eugene Felikson 09.30.2020 04:23 PM

I've voted for Obama, Hillary, and Bernie in the past. I even vote Democrat in local elections. I voted for Governor Whitmer with glee.

Biden sucks so much ass though. He's a snake in the grass, and I feel as though he always has been. At least Hillary sounded like she had the gonads to command a nation. Biden can't even answer a tough question or stick to his guns.

If Trump wins again, we can have someone who isn't some old establishment skeleton propped up on the podium for a change four years from now.

I love Tulsi Gabbard to be honest. She's insanely elegant and earnest. Takes a lot to differ as much from your own party at times when their 'malarkey' contradicts your core values. She's a pure Democrat at heart, but refuses to play their game. That's why they hate her. That's why I love her. Plus she's hot. That never hurts.

that's what people who suck at math and statistics don't get. they don't understand risk, or potential damage. they want to play the odds at trump's casino.

"russian roulette--just one in six chances!"

then someone else has to wipe the brains off the wall.

today, we have to choose someone born in the 40s. simple a/b choice. there's no other option.

in 4 years, the long millennial rule should begin based on sheer numbers--IF we're still around.

Don't be. That's all superficial nonsense unless they can utilize that following to generate IRL benefits. Focus on your schooling, skill sets, and income.

Lift weights. Read books. Watch pretentious movies you only pretend to understand. Practice your Tekken combos. Don't eat processed bullshit. Dont do drugs or drink unless it gets you sex.

Cheers. I believe in ya Choc

If it helps ya, you might consider voting in favor of "Bye, Don!" as opposed to for the sake of Biden. The frustration with another establishment candidate is far from unrelatable, believe me. But the other choice has shown time and time again to stand opposed to basic democratic principles and could mean you might not have any choice in the future. Sorry for being so blatant with my endorsement. What's that weird European guy doing here trying to push an agenda, right? The thing is though, based on the voting record you've just presented, I think there's a chance you may reconsider. And if it's just about an individual dislike for Biden, I think there are plenty of things to be said for looking past that when there's a good chance his cabinet may be filled with people you actually do like. Probably not Bernie, unfortunately. But I could totally see Tulsi in some sort of official position.

It's all about the marketing and aggressive quid-pro-quo (I follow you, you follow me). Some people have no qualms about that and are quite talented when it comes to that. Others don't play that way. In any case, the number of followers is not synonymous with the quality of the content you put out. It's all about whether you play the game or not. My pictures get maybe just below 30 likes on Instagram when I upload them. Then one day an acquaintance of mine who's kind of a social butterfly uploaded pictures I had taken of her and friends for an event photo-op and it got over 300 likes. Same quality, same photographer. But one of us is playing the game, the other isn't.

Or in other words:
