Check Out Frank Ocean, Diplo, and the Clash's Mick Jones and Paul Simonon's Converse Collab "Hero"
http://pitchfork.com/news/54279-chec...e-collab-hero/ such a weird combo, but the outcome is amazing!! also found this: Frank Ocean hints that new album will be inspired by The Beatles and The Beach Boys http://www.nme.com/news/frank-ocean/69978 WOW. <3 |

so many classics.. thanks Rob.

Most are last decade of H-town and TX hip hops. Houston puts out a lot of music but to my ears too much is too similar. I do not have the differentiating tastes of someone who really knows the hip hop tunes.

dood, I always forget how flawless Scarface is. Damn.

Me too. It would be a goddamn shame if his "last LP" was released by the Lil Wayne who's made us yawn for the past half decade. It's going to need eccentric and varied production, and to not focus on club bangers or anything like that. He should definitely bring Ye back for a few tracks and go at it C3 style. I kinda doubt it's gonna go down like that, but you never know. |

Sure you don't mean "Can't Hold Us?" ;) No. That's not funny. Macklemore is no laughing matter. ... PIÑATA!!!!! |
I'm kinda feeling like most of Mastermind sounds a little forced. But that could be because I made the mistake of reading the pitchfork review.

Cocaine Piñata is incredible. best rap album since Yeezus. can't wait to get it on vinyl.
My Krazy Life is ok. |

this album is in the same vein as Deeper Than Rap and Teflon Don (which they loved), not God Forgives. God Forgives sucked because it really was too forced, the industry was hyping it up as the modern Life After Death and Ross crushed under the pressure. however this time Ross was in his zone, just having fun, getting high in the studio and making some dope music with his acquaintances. i'll take "Nobody" as an example, people were going to give him shit for remaking a Biggie song, but Ross' flow had them shook. by the way, i don't even think it's his best release, but it's definitely a good album. it's like what you said about Hov.. they bash an artist for the same reasons they praised them. besides, the critics always kinda hated him. they're kinda like those youtube commentors who recycle the same ol' jokes about him being fat or his past as a correctional officer. they say they wanna see the man behind the character. i don't see anyone complaining about DOOM's character, right? Mastermind still topped the charts (with higher first week sales than Oxymoron) without any hit singles.. the people definitely fuck with Ross. fuck what a critic says. |
listening to the new Skrillex album.
|
I haven't heard Mastermind or Oxymoron in their entirety yet. Just bits. Neither got me excited enough to pick up the albums yet. I kind of want both, but just not in a rush.
Did anyone hear the Young Money yet? I'll get it eventually. So far, 2014, I've listened to that SGP mixtape the most for any hip hop release. Which isn't saying much. I want LORDS and BEAUTY & THE BEAT to come out already. |
