Times Square

fact:

Named in honor of Einstein's special relativity, particularly time dilation. Officially named

but colloquially referred to as Times Square in reflection of the average New Yorker's grasp of theoretical physics.

I've already explicitly announced that I am playing with expanded new colonial rules.

Named to commemorate the famous Rastafarian gang bang of Rebecca Beckson in 1969.

(It's a clever pun; look again)

I'm sure you're talking about St John's Wood. Swiss Cottage is a bit too urban looking to be considered quiet, wealthy and residential.

Barking.

Facts that you might not know about Barking:

In 1973 Barking was the first station to be removed from Central London for being too noisy. A commitee against its location lead by Rose ''rebel'' Petal pushed for it to be located in the east of the city after a lengthy legal battle that involved residents of Barking chaining themselves to wheelchairs.

Seven Sisters

Not many people know that this station wasn't, in fact, built by seven sisters in 1911. Christine James-Paul-Car, a sometime suffragette, was a distant cousin of one the sisters the station takes its name from.

Is the "vale" part of the name a corruption of "veil" as in the fruitiness is veiled, possibly hidden behind closed (toilet cubicle) doors.

Richmond (sorry anti-silverlinkers)

Fact:

This is where the Queen popped her royal cherry. He didn't ring her back.

Charing Cross

Charing Cross is the place of birth of the first pigeon being brought to a court of justice for purposely shitting profusely on tourists eating their ice cream and random Sunday free gig-goers in Trafalgar Square.

The pigeon in question is named Adam and is said to have shouted ''BUT TOURISTS ARE FUCKING OUTRAGEOUS, MAN!!'' to the judge who prosecuted him.

Wanstead

Fact:

In 1654, three women were accused of witchcraft, for the crime of taking over a freehouse, "The Swan's Tead", into a feminist creche. "Tead" is an old Middle English term for "hillock" or "knobbles on the forehead". The area later that the freehouse was based in later adopted it's name, which was later adapted to Wanstead, as Swan's Tead was deemed "too silly" by the Victorian-era authorities.
