What did I tell you? It's surprising how much the album grows on you, and how hard it is to stop listening once you've started.

I've never known Deafhaven to be considered a particularly substantive band, but now I think I might be getting back into metal, if only a bit, as a direct result of having heard this album.

it's like shoegazy emo black metal. the album just hit me immediately, great stuff.

New Magik Markers is really cool, always good to hear new material by these guys.

no....maybe the worst thing I've ever heard this year, all over the radio here. ultra-pristine, soulless trash, a cynical encapsulation of british 'bass' music created solely as a means of spoon-feeding uneducated american audiences. utter shit, to be frank.

name me one new extraordinary band in 2013. you fucking can't!!! because it's fucking garbage!!!!

the only two I would follow really religiously are eMego and PAN, two labels which are unfailingly fucking brilliant (the former in particular, this year they have absolutely slain everyone else hard). but in that vein in particular I'd say diagonal, which is powell's label, with that recent shit & shine 12" as well as stuff from blood music and prostitutes (in addition to powell's awesome eps himself), with upcoming stuff from russell haswell and fucking death comet crew, which should be sick. karl o'connor's label downwards is really cool too, branched out from straight industrial techno into post-punk with dva damas and tropic of cancer.

kinda broke, so won't be able to get this for a while myself, but i trust this man

never liked his paintings much though...

that's one of his best album covers thus far... love the colors.

This new Haim album is fucking terrible. Can't believe it's getting good reviews.
