Isle of dogs was one of the most boring things I’ve almost gotten thru. I gave it 45 minutes of my life. Just goddawful, pretentious yet childish

Oh hush. All Wes Anderson’s movies are prententious beyond belief, but fuckit they’re good.

ssssso, for those interested in preregistering for the criterion channel

some of the offers are a bit ridiculous (“membership card” going into the shredder, “special email address” lmao please no more email, “concierge” what lolol) — but i like the lifetime discounts on something i’ll consistently use.

here is where you’d go get it:

This movie is fantastic. Very Barry Lyndon, which I had no problem whatsoever with. A very absurdist historical take on Queen Anne.

One for the "so stupid it's awesome" category: The New Guy.

Home Alone last night, Elf tonight. Tis the season.

And The Muppets Christmas Carol in a few nights.

my favorite christmas movie is BRAZIL. truly captures the spirit of the season haaa haaa haaaa... although i’ll also happily rewatch BAD SANTA (the original not the stupid sequel) and maybe have on THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

ME TOO!!

My favorite kids one anyway.

Goddamn really goddamn good.

Another good one is — believe it or not — Family Man with Nicholas Cage. It’s basically It’s a Wonderful Life, but that’s ok.

I'm not sure if there's any part of this movie that I don't love.

And Michael Caine is amazingly good as Scrooge, even in a world where Charles Dickens is played by a rat.

Just finished "A Christmas Carol" from 1951 with Alastair Sim, and started Ruby Sparks.

Quote:

Kermit the Frog: If you please Mr. Scrooge, it's gotten colder, and the bookkeeping staff would like an extra shovel full of coal for the fire?

Rat #1: We can't do the bookkeeping, all our pens have turned to inkcicles!

Rat #2: Our assets are frozen!

Ebenezer Scrooge: How would the bookkeeping staff like to be suddenly... UNEMPLOYED?

Rats: [singing] HEAT WAVE. This is my island in the sun...

So many quotable spots.

Michael Caine's Scrooge...the only one willing to give employment to rats. That shoots him to the top of the list instantly.

I know that Rizzo has his own distinct vocals, but that scene is ripe for the Wilhelm scream
