I heard that when he was writing the screenplay, Faulkner called Chandler about a few confusing plot points, and Chandler said he didn't have a fucking clue.

i want to go out and watch it but i know if i do, my aunt's going to sit bitching about my mom the entire fucking time. it's ONLY WHEN I WANT TO ACTUALLY WATCH STUFF that this situation happens.

haha, that's true. i could barely follow the book. the movie does a much better job of depicting whatever the hell is going on.

dems da brakes. I think Maltese might be my last one for tonight. I really just need to break down and buy all the Bogart movies...maybe not the deluxe dvds, just cheap used vhs/dvd so I can watch whenever the mood strikes.

uhler 12.26.2008 12:30 AM

i watched a bunch of "a christmas story" and now my roommate, friend and i are watching "best in show".

schizophrenicroom 12.26.2008 12:31 AM

i wish that series that does actor/actress retrospective dvd sets would do a huge bogart set. oh man.

Sonic Youth 37 12.26.2008 12:34 AM

That would be awesome. I could justify buying a boxset, not $15 a pop for two-disc remasters, plus like $30-40 for the new Casablanca box that came out.

acousticrock87 12.26.2008 12:37 AM

They had those James Bond boxed sets on sale for $20 at Best Buy a few months ago; I bought 2 boxes (10 movies) for $40, all of which are 2-disc special editions. Then the sale ended before I had enough money for the other two boxes.

Assholes.

schizophrenicroom 12.26.2008 12:37 AM

yeah, it's an investment piece. i keep telling myself to save up for the six feet under box. i think that'll be my birthday gift to myself.

Sonic Youth 37 12.26.2008 12:38 AM

FUCKK!!!!! I wish I would have known. Dammit!!! I'm missing two as well. I got them last year, Volumes 1 & 3

acousticrock87 12.26.2008 12:39 AM

Haha I have 2 & 4. They were the only sets I didn't already own anything from.

Sonic Youth 37 12.26.2008 12:40 AM

I really just wanted Goldeneye on DVD and got #1 randomly too. I was just looking on ebay yesterday for the other ones. I'll get them soon now.

acousticrock87 12.26.2008 12:43 AM

$25-$30 on Amazon right now. I might do that.

[Sandbag] 12.26.2008 09:53 AM

there will be blood

EVOLghost 12.26.2008 02:07 PM

I just saw The Spirit last night.....not exactley what I thought it would be....but a fun movie to watch.

atsonicpark 12.26.2008 02:11 PM

I kinda want to see it. For scarlett johannson. Mmm.

!@#$%! 12.26.2008 02:34 PM

finished volume 2 of

terrible footage, bad audio syncing, faulty subtitles, but what a fucking movie! the oral history aspect of it is extraordinary. the perfect christmas cheer-- ha ha ha.

!@#$%! 12.26.2008 02:41 PM

also:

good shit! it was short, but i loved the "cinematography," if you can call it that-- i mean the style of animation, the camera movements, very fucking cool.

atsonicpark 12.26.2008 02:46 PM

yeah, 123451, I bought blood a while back and I thought it ended just as it was getting good. Great style, though, and what I saw of the series (blood+) was enjoyable.

atsonicpark 12.26.2008 03:37 PM

blood simple - 8/10

I'd never seen this. This film is fucking great! Right after seeing it, I ordered a coen brothers box set off of amazon for $25. It has raising arizona (which i love), fargo (whichi love), this movie (which I love) and miller's crossing and barton fink, which I've never seen but they look amazing.

atsonicpark 12.26.2008 03:50 PM

123451, when you get a chance, instant watch the corndog man on amazon. It's only 83 minutes long. I just bought a copy because I couldn't stop thinking about it after watching it last week. Just a great film. You'll thank me..

viewtiful_alan 12.26.2008 05:01 PM

Bedtime stories..
pure silliness.

Derek 12.26.2008 05:50 PM

Just ordered Violent Cop, Sonatine and Brothers. Ratings to come when I watch him aha.

acousticrock87 12.26.2008 06:01 PM

I'm jealous.

Derek 12.26.2008 06:44 PM

Also just found out the record store I go to has a world cinema section tucked away in the back. I saw El Topo there and everything! Can't wait to spend some Christmas money there.

atsonicpark 12.26.2008 07:14 PM

I'd give violent cop an 8, brother a 7, sonatine a 9, and el topo a 10. Haha.

toxic johnny 12.26.2008 07:18 PM

Dans Paris 10/10... motherfuckers.

I'd give El Topo a 10/10 also. I really want to actually own it though. Plus the price for it was really cheap (about £7 or £8). When I saw it in HMV it was £20.

Derek 12.26.2008 07:33 PM

And should also mention that I saw it that cheap a few weeks ago. It'll be cheaper now due to recession/after christmas sale.

atsonicpark 12.26.2008 08:57 PM

Yeah, I got el topo a few years ago at some convention when it was out of print, some weird box called the holy trininity; holy mountain, santa sangre, and el topo for $20. The Anchor Bay dvd's look a LOT better so I plan on getting that one day but still gonna keep the "holy trinity" bootleg because it has santa sangre, which I think can't be found on dvd in America.

i'd rep you in thanks, but apparently i'm "spent".

atsonicpark 12.26.2008 09:01 PM

Yeah, I get You have given out too much Reputation in the last 24 hours, try again later. every day... :(

Sonic Youth 37 12.26.2008 11:11 PM

Marley and Me.
Bleh in the most extreme sense

schizophrenicroom 12.26.2008 11:26 PM

jennifer aniston is so bleh. i can't even gather an emotion. i see her face and sigh.

Sonic Youth 37 12.26.2008 11:27 PM

Pretty much, I spent half the movie looking for the marks on Owen Wilson's wrist from the time he tried to check out early.

schizophrenicroom 12.26.2008 11:48 PM

did you find them?

Sonic Youth 37 12.26.2008 11:51 PM

Sadly, no. Must have not scarred or were CGI'd out.

Sonic Youth 37 12.27.2008 12:10 AM

Uncle Buck right now.
I think I'm going to watch Snatch after that.
