Experimental electronic duo Autechre return with their first physical release since 2013.

Warp Records presents NTS Sessions, which debuted in a series of weekly radio broadcasts. Mixing gorgeous melodies, abstract sounds and modern beats, Rob Brown and Sean Booth have once again outdone themselves – creating a truly epic work that is both awe-inspiring and positively oblique.

Strictly limited to one-time pressing.

This is unreal. I expected that these might be some poor quality recordings, but it sounds beautiful. A genius at his best.

Tropical F#ck Storm played in my town last night and I was blown away... which prompted me to grab their album which came out recently. It gets a teeeeeeny bit samey, but overall really really really good. The kind of album that makes you wonder what the hell you're doing with your music. This is them live on TV:

Dude, I LOVE YOU! Had zero idea there were more than one (i.e. yours truly) Tropical Fuck Storm fans here. On the other hand, if anyone digs The Drones, how could they possibly not pick up A Laughing Death In Meatspace AND the four singles that came before it.

When I "discovered" The Drones —late in the game, I confess— I had the same reaction you're describing: WHERE in ALL THAT IS FUCK was I when these masterworks were coming out! Wait Long By The River And The Bodies Of Your Enemies Will Float By has become one of my all-time favorite albums, hands down. Gareth Liddiard's Strange Tourist is a must as well... To everybody out there: GET EVERYTHING!

'Bluesy rock' can sometimes be a safe harbour for people with not a lot of creativity or interesting ideas, but enough money for pedals and nice guitars... but this album really impressed me with the unusual twists and turns in the song forms, the unexpected dynamic shifts, how memorable many of the lines were. It hits really hard and I'm enjoy it a lot

The Soup Nazi 06.25.2018 07:15 PM

"Bluesy rock" or even "blues-punk"/"punk-blues" are misnomers when it comes to TFS and The Drones. Can't think of a band so labeled with something like, for instance, "Why Write a Letter You'll Never Send" on their catalog...

ETA: ...or a cover of "Stayin' Alive"!

Nine Inch Nails - “Bad Witch”

... is actually pretty goddamn good.

This is coming from a person who grew up with NIN, and has taken tons of shit from music fascists for it on this very board and has to admit that the music fascists are right about that stinker of a 2014 album... but this one’s good.

Not, like, super good, but as good a heavy rock album as I’ve heard from a high profile name in a while. (Shrug)
