Just got back from the Arsenal v Man U game.

Not happy :(

demonrail666 05.06.2009 06:25 AM

A silly mistake by Gibbs and a freak wonder-free kick from Ronaldo and the match was finished before it'd even really started. After that I just thought Arsenal were awful. Although nice to watch, their tendency to over-play can get really frustrating.

blunderbuss 05.06.2009 06:56 AM

Prediction for tonight:

Chelsea 1 - 1 Barcelona

demonrail666 05.06.2009 07:14 AM

Yeah, which sees Barcelona go through on the away goal.

I really want to see Barcelona go through, especially after seeing how Chelsea played in the opening leg.

ithinkimissyou 05.06.2009 07:41 AM

I hope Barcelona destroy Chelsea tonight, but the absence of Puyol and Marques at the back could prove to be too much.

Last nights game was very very disappointing. Arsenal just don't seem to have the players - Fabregas' performances have reminded me of how Henry played when his time at Arsenal was coming to an end, still a class act but his head/heart isn't there anymore, I suspect he's going to leave - but go to god knows where.

I mean at one point last night he passed the ball 5 yards straight to a Man U player. It was just appalling.

I feel sorry for Gibbs, as he is a very talented young player - hopefully he bounces back straight away.

This is said a lot but I think it's true: Arsenal sorely lack a few experienced old pros on the team.

Anyway prediction for tonight... glargh blargh...

Hoping for a 3-1 win to Barcelona

But I reckon Chelsea are going to score goals against Barcas defence...

*brain hurts*

3-3

PAULYBEE2656 05.06.2009 10:13 AM

barca for the cup! ...please...for my sanity sake..

I agree.

Wenger makes too much of his team's age. It's true that they'll improve but whose to say that they won't move on the minute they do?

Damn, of all the things to push you over the edge...

On a lighter note, i was supposed to be on a date tonight but it has fallen through so i will be able to watch Chelsea grind out a depressing result to see off Barca. Which is a far better reason to want to leave this mortal coil

ithinkimissyou 05.06.2009 01:13 PM

Henry out :(

Argh, *bites fingers off*

I'm not sure what way this is going to go

This pukey sick feeling of anticipation and trepidation is what makes sport great

ithinkimissyou 05.06.2009 02:34 PM

Ugh.

Chelsea are horrible to watch.

But they're a goal up.

Alves already booked.

Barcelona please win, for my sanity...

jon boy 05.06.2009 02:44 PM

no way! as much as i dont like chelsea and thats a lot, i would rather them go to the final as they seem the only ones capable of beating the scum.

on current evidence, this is true

but i still hope for Barca to step up a gear and just play great attacking football and destroy a team set up with 11 men behind the ball most of the time

i really, really, really dislike chelsea and many of their players - but i think their work rate is phenomenal and they are quality. but.. bah..

hoping for a more open second half

*opens beer*

ithinkimissyou 05.06.2009 03:10 PM

oh good fucking christ almighty...

oh good god

*bangs head*

not watching anymore

great ref

pokkeherrie 05.06.2009 03:36 PM

Jeez, I think that was Barca's first and only shot on goal in 90+ minutes.

Moshe 05.06.2009 03:45 PM

wow!

sadly, i think that is true. plus, barca will miss abidal and dani alvez... (ok, man u will miss fletcher, but still)

Florya 05.06.2009 03:46 PM

Well played the 12 men of Barca!

nicfit 05.06.2009 03:48 PM

2 amazing goals, lame referee (red card??penalties??), kinda bad result...I mean, barca played a great League, but Chelsea managed to keep total control for 180mins...bah.
I'm tempted to root for MU now, go figure...

ithinkimissyou 05.06.2009 03:50 PM

I actually don't think Man U will play such a negative game so it'll be a better match, but they have to be favourites.

Hopefully Henry will be back

the ikara cult 05.06.2009 03:51 PM

hahahaha!
What a relief, the final might actually be a decent game now even though theyre missing the full backs. Cant believe the referee too, bring him to the premiership!

jon boy 05.06.2009 03:52 PM

jeezuz. what is the ref doing? heartbreak for chelsea (not that bothered) i just hope that the scum dont win.

once leeds get back to the prem then watch your back daniel alves.

Heh, I caught myself feeling sorry for Chelsea, go figure...

No way, I dislike Man Utd way more than Chelsea this season (that's odd, isn't it?).

I'd support anyone playing Man Utd these days, even if it's Ajax.

Phfff you should be watching out for the mighty Bohemian FC of Dublin, not Barcelona - we're going places dontchyaknow? (quite possibly under but hey)

right. its us v you in the champions league final 2013.

davenotdead 05.06.2009 03:59 PM

wow.

fuck soccer.

are these euro officials too snobby, too "traditional" to allow some instant replay?

it took forever, but they do it in american football, and even baseball now.

seriously, fuck this.

its ridiculous that this is how important matches are decided.

I will actually root for Man U for the first and probably last time. at least they kind of deserve to be in the final

davenotdead 05.06.2009 04:02 PM

alves is seriously a cunt

To be honest, I just hope they get distracted enough to let Liverpool win the premier league hah aaaa. Unlikely, uh?

they say it would break up the game too much, but in all truth - there is so much diving, and acting on the pitch these days (drogba you reap what you sew) that video footage could be brought in without much if any hassle.

one thing, and if I had the time and inclination to do it - there needs to be a league table in diving. an independent panel of people adjudicating on if a player dives or not in a game, where a foul hasn't taken place first.

if guilty, it gets added to his record.

record this and just place it online at first in order to shame the players.

i don't expect divers give a toss as long as they get away with it, so, then we have the logical next step:

after a game a team can cite a player for diving - say two dives = automatic ban for next game.

that would be neat

diving needs to be tackled

*gets coat*

Florya 05.06.2009 04:07 PM

I'm with Barca all the way.
Great to see Terry in tears again.
I hope Drogba gets some sort of punishment for his disgraceful behaviour after the final whistle. And for his choice of footwear.

Kannibal 05.06.2009 04:08 PM

atleast chelsea didn't advance.

jon boy 05.06.2009 04:33 PM

yeh they do need to use technology more like they do in the cricket. i like the idea of penalising players for diving more that they do and maybe technology would help but who knows. i also want there to be tussles between players circa man u v arsenal a few years back when van nistlrooy dived for them.

ithinkimissyou 05.06.2009 04:41 PM

davenotdead 05.06.2009 04:43 PM

if they implemented instant replay and penalized divers then there would be much less diving.

yes.
they just need to do something.

I did like Ballack giving the ref an earful at the end. is there a gif of that yet?

as you ordered boss:

o o o 05.06.2009 05:11 PM

Being surrounded by Barça fans (most of them who became ultra-fans of Barça since this year, it seemed), I was sort of for Chelsea at the beginning, or at least enjoying that their invincible Barça was not as invicible as they said they were after all, and showed some limits against a well-organised team… But after Abidal’s red card, I was actually for Barça again. I guess I "supported" the right teams at the right time...

In the end, I would really like Barça to win it, so I will be for them in the final, but they did not show that much during this semi-final, and I’m afraid they will suffer in 2 weeks without Abidal and Alves, and Marquez, and maybe Puyol? I hope Titi will be back, at least.

Haha… It lasted much longer than that, though. I must say I thought Ballack and Drogba were hilarious at the end, but I can understand them being really pissed off.

The internet is quick with these .gif images…

jon boy 05.06.2009 05:16 PM

a gif of the chelsea goal please.

blunderbuss 05.06.2009 05:16 PM

What a fucking joke that ref was - but I suppose at least he was even-handed with his atrocious decisions.

At the end of the day, Chelsea had countless chances, of which they only put away one, while Barca had one chance and did what they needed to do. If Drogba had put away the sitter that was given him on a plate, he wouldn't have had to throw his full time tantrum.

The referee was still a cunt though.

davenotdead 05.06.2009 05:17 PM

Barca will be ass-raped by Man U.

that is all that matters.

it's sad because I like Messi and Bojan better than any manchester douchebags. but i cannot root for them at all after this.

NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST.

I'm still waiting on a PK.

fuck, does Pique not have arms? that must be it. I must have missed something
