Trust me, it's nothing you'd be interested in. |
i forgot to mention i saw frost/nixon the other day
![]() it was good-- a mainstream movie but well shot and directed, though a bit manichean (as usual). the highlight of it for me was rebecca hall in a back-less (?) dress-- holy shit a hetero man or lesbian woman could eat off that back & die of joy. |
![]() Watched it last night... |

charlie bartlett, pretty meh. 5/10. melodramatic and not very fun, Downey wasn't given much to do

ihateyouth, have you seen chungking express? It's 2 somewhat connected stories; Fallen Angels (your avatar) is the 3rd story, branched off into its own separate movies. Anyway, it's brilliant.
I have nothing to do today, because I'm on vacation, so I'm spending the whole day watching movies!! |

"From the director of Suicide Club"...... fuck that! |
Okay...
|
Suicide Club made me almost throw up my mcnuggets, son.
|
I don't remember anything being too gross in that movie, except when they unrolled that flesh thing made from parts of suicide victim's backs... If you want to see something really disturbing by that director, watch Strange Circus. Now that one's crazy. Little girl raped, thrown in a cello case and forced to watch her mom get raped, all this crazy shit!
|
The skin scene was what I was referring too. Looked like a flesh-fruit-rollup with tattoos. Nasty.
Also the part with the lady cutting her hand with the butcher knife was kind of rough. I Should note that when I saw SC, I had no prior warning. I had never seen a Japanese horror film before, so didn't know what to expect. And y'know, that first scene is a bit of a shock if yr expecting Ringu. |
Cool.
I'm currently watching EXECUTIVE KOALA. It's a pretty normal film with a gigantic Koala salaryman going around killing people in an office. This is great! |
Seriously, I suggest everyone just watch 5 minutes of this movie at least.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCnjH...eature=related This is hilarious. |

That sounds funny. I wanna find that Hotdog Man movie you mentioned a while ago. |
corndog man.
I usually buy movies used but for some reason I had to buy it off of amazon brand new. I guess once someone gets a copy they don't want to part with it. It's the funniest movie I've ever seen, next to Period Piece... |
what's Period Piece?
|
My current favorite filmmaker is this guy named Giuseppe Andrews... he creates experimental films with his cast of trailer park friends...
www.giuseppeandrews.net He funds his films with money he makes from being in Hollywood films. He was in Independence Day and Detroit Rock City and such. He writes, edits, directs, acts in, does the music for, produces, etc. all his own movies, usually on cheap-ass digital cameras. Occasionally, he collaborates with Adam Rifkin/Rif Coogan (Psycho Cop 2, Invisible Maniac, Night at the Golden Eagle, Dark Backward, etc... all great films). He's won some awards for his films, mainly Garbanzo Gas, a hilarious pro-vegetarian film where a gigantic cow man lives in a hotel and invites people who are about to kill themselves to stay with him and they all order steak while a killer with a talking orthopedic shoe tries to kill them after they find happiness in life, from steak. Period Piece is like 5 or 6 hilarious/ridiculous stories interconnected... one in particular is about this old man alone in a hotel room where he has fake sex with an invisible porn star, and he purchases a dead pig and chops it in half with an axe. Great stuff. Here's some clips: http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...e&search_type= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uitXR...eature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCS5C...eature=related He's by far the most inventive, original, and forward-thinking filmmaker working today. His films are the most surreal and hilarious I have EVER seen. More info at www.giuseppeandrews.net including a detailed essay calling him the trailer park Godard. He has a a small but loyal cult following but with his films getting rave reviews at film festivals and such, in a few years he'll be huge. He has some films released by Troma but he releases films through his website now. About a month ago I bought all his films for $100 and watched all of them in a day. They were just THAT good. Think Jodorowsky meets early John Waters and you'll be on the right track... |
I know Andrews. He's the cop that likes to party in Cabin Fever. No?
|
Which of his films were released by Troma?
|
yes.
period piece, touch me in the morning, and trailer town. |
OH yeah, he was in 2001 Maniacs.

I'm almost always watching movies, even when I'm talking on here or on the phone or something. THere's something always on. I'm an excellent multi tasker. |
I'm a horrible multi tasker. Life would be easier if I was a better one hah.
|
Yeah, I have a friend who's kind of... ridiculous. If you say one word to him during a movie, he's like "I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENIGN NGOWWWWW I CAN'T FOLLOW THE PLOT."
|
I'm like that actually haha... maybe not that extreme but I can't have ANY background noise or I get distracted.

You don't feel like yr missing subtle things if yr not giving the movie yr full attention? |
I watched Barton Fink yesterday. I'm still not sure what to make of it.
|
i'm about to watch "drift".
|

I haven't- I will! thanks |
![]() My second time seeing it. I half-recommended it to my roommate cause I was pretty sure I liked it. There were some laughable parts, but overall it was good. |

Well, if I feel like I've missed something, I'll go back and rewatch it or rewind it. I am usually paying pretty close attention to the movie, again I can do 3 things at once pretty well and not lose track or sight of anything. And I rewatch movies all the time as well. Silent Dan Speaks: Barton Fink's a masterpiece!! |
