Great movie indeed. I hadn't seen it in well over a decade. Well worth rewatching.

Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince

I watched The Hidden Fortress this afternoon for the first time. Then tonight I revisited Valley Girl. That's a pretty solid double bill.

watched The Interview with Hugo Weaving. Very cool movie. Aussie?

Also watched Breakdown with Kurt Russell, and now I do not want to drive to El Paso from Houston any more.

Bill and Ted Face The Music. Too early for a rating.

Pontypool

Really interesting film with a brilliant main premise (a virus transmitted by spoken language). It did nothing on 1st release but seems to be gathering a bit of a cult following as more people find out about it.

Yellowbrickroad

On the surface this seems like just another found-footage/Blair Witch affair but it's all done really well, with a genuinely original and creepy concept.

A lot of fun, even if I found some of the tonal contrasts a bit jarring.

Honestly, had too much to drink too fast and I never finished my original attempt to watch it.

So I restarted it tonight, and watched all the way through...

I didn't hate it, but I'm not sure where it'd rank among the original two movies. Most are partial to Excellent Adventure. I'm partial to Bogus Journey. A followup roughly 30 years in the making will forever be hard to handle. I...can't give an official ranking yet. I need to watching a couple more times at least. There is an "Oh my god..." moment for sure that just amuses me way more than it should, but other parts feel kind of "wtf", and then everything in between.

Guns Akimbo.

Something about Daniel Radcliffe in movies with extremely odd premises.

BONJOUR TRISTESSE (OTTO PREMINGER, 1958)

first of a criterion series on “bad vacations” :D :D

jean seberg! barely 20 and *killing it*

great cast overall e.g. alec guinness long before she chose the horrible role that came to define his career for children everywhere (and shall remain unnamed in this post)

oh and of course this being preminger, excellent opening credits by saul bass

bad vacations lolololololo

Very likely watching Midsommar next as I've heard good things about it

It’s a mesmerizing fucking deathtrip.

Scarier, I think, than Hereditary. The imagery and music are beautiful — the film itself is deeply unsettling.

Have fun

It made me hope that i'd be able to identify if I end up in a cult in some way. Also very long movie that won't be easy to rewatch regularly.
