it was very good in the cinematography and atmospherics department

most of it was so dark it reminded me of the vvitch: from midtones to pitch black, bright whites were rare af.

the pace was very slow, which can lull one into a dreaming state. o well.

only real bother was the cgi fox. can't they train a real dog or something lmao. but yeah, it was just an element that didn't match the rest at close range.


I grew up with Tolkien’s version of this story, so I was excited about the movie, but my ass isn’t going to a theater — not yet. Anyway would you recommend it?

yes, at the movies. i wouldnt watch it on a tv unless it's a big oled, because it goes from black to blacker--on a regular led screen i figured it would be splotches. i had a problem with the vvitch on an led tv for similar reasons--a very dark palette. old lcd would likely be worse or wash out.

anyway im fully immunized plus wore an n95 so why not. it was beautiful aesthetics. but the fox, lol.

I voted for the dinosaurs movie because I watched this one a few days ago




 


The movie has been used in an episode of Mystery Science Theater, but I watched the regular release which is on Netflix
Fun thing about it is that the dino's that are supposed to be the scariest types look a hell of a lot like Barney :D

At 3 hours 49 minutes, it's still too short. Would be great if the original 6 hour cut would be unearthed some day, which was edited from 10 hours of shot material ...
