looking forward to this too. your setup looks 10 times bigger then mine hahaha |
he guys and gals, to reborn this thread a lil bit I post a link to a project I did with my girlfriend for a german online music channel. I think they came out pretty raw, and I really love the outcome (and it was great to shoot and especially to make the lil soundtracks for em) every feedback is highly appreciated, hope you enjoy:

Ok, so, 100% honest mode ON:
1st one: love it 2nd one: hmmmm, 50%-50%, I don't like when there are the bubbles and the creased tissue (or wathever that is), also the changes in proportions given by the camera distance are a bit overdone imo. 3rd one: me like it, I'd make it one-speed-only 4th: too much "The Ring"-like (both audio and vid) 5th: nice, not too original but well edited (that "plin plin" effect is a bit too much bbc-like ;)) 6th: cool, love the light on this. overall: really nice effort, DUDE, I hope I didn't sound too rude, i like even the ones I criticized for something, they sure are better than most of the stuff you get to see usually. well done. who's the girl? |
thats my gf, hahaha
didnt I mentioned her? if not, I will edit that as soon as I can! thanks for your honesty, and I think I agree on all with you. my favourites are the last two, even if the ink thingy isnt the most original I like how it came out (the bbc comparison is great :)) the fire one was a bitch to choose, cause onlly one shot was possible. btw equipment used: 2 ixus 100 1 macbook (garageband) 1 macbook pro (after effects / final cut) thats it. equipment wise a punkish project hahaha, everything was done in a kitchen and a bathroom. for the sounds I used kind of trash recordings I did recently and/or a long time ago. after effects for the contrasts and final cut, um yes, what it does: cutting / speeding up / down |
I'm seeing Autechre tonight!!!!!!! I'm so fucking excited!!!
|
Is she your girlfriend?
|
just checked your works shabbray; I'm not too savvy on design but I liked the first three ones, really enjoyed the 4th one and liked the two last a bit less. But good stuff overall indeed

That's gay when you consider that Autechre = two men. |

Is it a case of all the gear, no idea? :D |
shut the fuck up

autechre was so fucking awesome. i still can't believe it
rob hall began the night with 2 hours of techno dj set, he was really good and rocking. People were enjoying themselves. When he played Freak by LFO it was like yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah :D then he stopped at 1am, and without a break the lights were turned off and BOOM CLAP BOOM CLAP BOOM CLAP BOOM CLAP autechre went on with a straight rhythm. And then it was pure madness, insane rhythms everywhere, evolving, sounds coming in from the chaos. People were really into it. The venue was completely full, it was unbelievably hot in there. They were really MINDBLOWING. I think they may have really enjoyed the gig too, since the first bootlegs from the tour were 60/65 minutes long, and they were supposed to play 60 minutes on the schedule , yet they played 75 mins... Yeah, fantastic. One of the best gigs I've been to in my life Then Didjit played a DJ set based on dancehall and old school hip hop, it was mostly fun And then Russell Haswell was disappointing, I was expecting a blasting wall of sound set, and while the beginning was overawesome, for some reason after that he played some vaguely glitchy 90s hardcore techno and it was not really interesting... But overall it was a fantastic night. Damn. |
man, this is autechre week. i bought oversteps, am listening to it for the first time right now and enjoying it SO much. great great great so far
|
what are these "oversteps"?
album? |
yes, it's their new album. it was released this week. it's more ambient than their last albums... really interesting. It reminds me of Confield as well so far, which is a good thing since Confield is my favorite Autechre album.
|
yes. good news, wasnt at the warp page for a while. totally not up to date. but that are good news, would like to have another AE fix at the moment
|
they are going to play berlin soon, will you go ? They were really mindblowing last week. Going to see them again in April in Brussels with my buddy TheFoxBen, I can't wait (especially since King Midas Sound will be playing the same night as well)
|
i don't get all the fuss about King Midas Sound
|
hmm i don't know, i really like them for some reason. i can't really say why i find them so awesome, but yeah. they're so chill, and that's like the only thing i could think of after listening to "waiting for you". the album's got no track as stunning as poison dart on the bug's london zoo, but overall i think it's a much much better album.
|
Lately, I've found 99% of electronic music with beats incredibly schematic and boring. Beatless music is a different cup of tea though.
|
hmm weird; i guess that would explain why you don't get king midas sound though. on the other hand i'm really into wonky (whatever that means) and dubstep lately so that might be why i like them... eh.
|
autechre in berlin? sounds good, I am in berlin for a week in the beginning of april so that would be pretty cool if it fits after I missed them the last time!!!!
|
They're playing there on the 1st of April. The other German gig is in Hamburg, on the 6th
|
damn I am there from the 6th to the 11th april....argh, but I can go to hamburg for free because of my university tiket, hell yeah. maybe I am going, will check the prizes, they decide, cause I am nearly broken at the moment, hahahaah <---insane laughter
|
I hope for you they won't be too expensive... it was only 10€ in Lille, which was cool
|
Hey folks, I am doing some music with forum-member dr eugene feulikkson.
here are two instrumentals I did for our project: http://soundcloud.com/catsleeph/nightgazer http://soundcloud.com/catsleeph/panic-button let me hear what you think!!!! |
i don't like the bass synth in nightgazer, seems out of tune (but i guess it's on purpose :) ), but the tune has a nice feel to it, just polish it a bit more.
Panic Button sounds very promising, much like Prefuse 73 and the like. Will mr. felikson be adding another layers to it? by the way, you know, we also have to do something together? (and by "doing somehing" i don't mean kissing, hugging nor having sex, haha) |
yes its detuned. do you just dont like it or do you think its "wrong"? I wanted to give the overall feel a lil bit more etch, cause I didnt want to let it sound too happy po peppy, hahaha.
cool that you like panic button. and no mr felikson is down for the vocals in that project! I think it will take both tunes in a complete different direction. looking forward to the results. and YES we should do it soon (but no hurry, hrhrhr) |
no, it's not wrong, i just don't like it because it doesn't sound good to my ears in that specific song.
|
okay, got it!
|
holidays at least!!
haven't checked your tunes yet shabbray (and i'm listening to like water for chocolate right now), but will do soon for sure! |
good man! :)
when will I hear your kickass gear in action? |
Soon! I've recorded a few tracks yesterday but I'm not completely satisfied with them. I'm still working on them, but I'll probably upload some recordings soon.
-- Also, I don't know if I talked about it already, but I've joined the team for a french webzine, which is awesome. I like the fact that you can basically review anything, so underground things get the same level of visibility as some mainstream pop acts. It's really interesting. So far I've published a review of Broadcast & The Focus Group Investigate Witch Cults Of The Radio Age, and I've just sent my review of the last Pantha Du Prince album. Something's great is that I can get free tickets for shows... I'm seeing many shows lately so that's really neat :D I've been asked to interview Dan Le Sac though, I'm not quite sure whether I'll do it or not ... I'm a bit afraid that I won't be able to understand his english accent, and I'm not experienced with conducting interviews... we'll see. --- Also, I'll be in Brussels with my pal TheFoxBen again this week end. Can't wait. We're gonna see Autechre + King Midas Sound, and then Mount Eerie + Fuck Buttons + 65daysofstatic + Three Trapped Tigers + Toman, and then we'll go to Lille and see Mulatu Atsatke & The Heliocentrics. How awesome is this! --- Also (and that is a final also), the Dour Festival lineup begins to be REALLY cool: A-Trak Agoria Anti-Pop Consortium Archie Bronson Outfit Atari Teenage Riot Baddies Baroness Bilal Black Mountain Black Sun Empire Les Blérots de R.A.V.E.L. Hi everyone.
Damn I love that Mayer Hawthorne album. |
Oh, our old thread.
nice. |
Yes ! For some reason it seemed more appropriate than Ink.'s (let's adapt ourselves to her new nick) thread. For some reason I fell on the twin thread (I want to get bitten a few days ago, it was fun).
But yeah. What's the job you've been headhunted for about? |
It's the same I do now (media agency) but with more responsibility and for more cash.
i am going to bed now, mon cheri, i'm too tired. good night man! |
ahah, have a good night too man. i'm gonna enjoy my last holiday night listening to some music... don't want to work. anyway, good night. |
I just got home from Momix's Bothanica.
