I used to love Alice In Chains a lot, then a lot of that stuff kinda faded away and I ended up finally giving my dad all of my AiC stuff last year.
I still think some of their stuff is amazing, though. Rotten Apple is an incredible song. ~Jeremy~ |
there is a LOT of nirvana talk on syg ... but never of the "omg kurdt is god, i have an altar to nirvana in my closet" variety.
good. |
^ fuck yeah man. EDIT: chick.

How many of you were listening to Nirvana before the Rolling Stone cover or were listening to them before the radio stations decide that Teen Spirit was an anthem for a new generation? Yes I agree that no one has called him God but the adulation is there between the words...I guess Kurt is the 90's version of Jim Morrison. And nobody better say a bad word about Jim on my watch haha :):D
or maybe I was just seeing if I still remembered how to troll?:o;) |
Smells like teen spirit is an AMAZING SONG!
Fuck anyone who says otherwise. No need to play it down just cuz the media overplayed it. Did you all forget how to enjoy music? Kurt did, and he shot himself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soiffolOj5k BRUTAL, niggas |
I always thought that footage was placed perfectly in Hype! I like how lyrically it barely resembles the finished song.

I lived in Callahan, FL and if the song was never released on the radio I would not be who I am today. It is NOT easy to find good music in rural america. BTW i love Jim too. |
Well I've always listened to a lot of college radio and when it faded out I would listen to a local alternative rock station and Teen Spirit while a great song was overplayed to the same plateau as Stairway to Heaven or today as much as Eminem's new one. As far as the bands themselves go I still believe that AIC was the better band and Layne Stanley a better guitarist.
As far as Nevermind goes I prefer Come as You Are, In Bloom and Lithum to Teen Spirit |
We dont have college radio. Just lots of country and pop stations. Ryan introduced me to most of my music i like he would hear it on skate videos. There is very little outside culture here. I liked AIC after Nirvana but quickly grew tired of them. I was tired of Nirvana for a bit but I eventually picked them back up, not so with Alice it doesnt hit me the same.

To everyone here, and the surviving members of Nirvana themselves.

That's because Nirvana walked a complex line between pop and noise. Alice in Chains were just a "rawk" band, with some decent songs and intstrumentation sometimes... Funny about yr husband, my drummer finds lots of his favorite bands that way!!!! |

hate to reply to something so old but he uses the proco rat pedal. which it seems is the only effect he used there's an article about his gear here http://nyrfan25.tripod.com/equipment.html |
thank you!
Love that sound. |
He might've done that for the live version, but I remember reading somewhere that no pedals were used on the recording. They just turned up the amp really loud and overloaded the mix.
