On the net posivitive Rockets playing much better defense in this series than against Clippers or Mavs. Also we have the Michelob Ultra Version of James Harden.. more filling less floppimg. On the other hand its 0-2 which means Rockets are officially done.

There you go with another one of your predictions. Any basketball veteran knows a series isn't a series until a team loses a home game. Being a veteran, I'll make my first prediction......Golden State better win Game 3, because if they don't, it's going back to Oakland all tied up!

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 05.22.2015 09:15 AM

We'll just have to wait and see now won't we

I like that little snap you included, let me hook you up with some scouting..

Rockets have come back to win a series after dropping 0- 2 three times.. lost 17 times.. exactly four teams have come back in the Conference Finals after dropping the first two..

Rob Instigator 05.22.2015 09:21 AM

Oh if only Patrick beverly was uninjured to help defend on Curry.....

Bytor Peltor 05.22.2015 09:39 AM

5 Points was the difference in Two Games at Oakland.

The Rockets needed James Harden to score 40 points to win.

Curry didn't think Harden was going to pass on final play. Curry said he, defense were "retreating." Did everything so Harden couldn't shoot.

There was a cutter open......

Per Elias, James Harden became just the 6th player to have 38+ points, 10+ rebounds and 9+ assists in a Conference Finals game......Jerry West, Oscar Robertson, Elgin Baylor, Lew Alcindor & Charles Barkley are the others.

James Harden was spectacular in isolation. He created space and used ball screens to find his shot. 7/8 on uncontested baskets.

Jeff Van Gundy on ESPN on James Harden: "We're looking at a creative genius on dribble penetration."

James Harden (Thunder) came back from down 2-0 in 2012 to get the the NBA finals......Beard has been here before!

Bogut (who played well compared to Game 1) on Curry vs. Harden: "I want to crack open a beer and get a courtside seat ... the two best basketball players in the world."

Per Elias......Curry 5/11 on 3FG is the 1st player EVER to hit 5+ 3FG in 4 consecutive NBA Playoff games.

Among the things Howard cited the Rockets need to correct - "out of bounds plays, knowing the coverages, knowing what they're trying to get."

Dwight Howard: 19 points, 17 rebounds, played over 40 minutes after Game One knee sprain......West Coast media ignorant for calling him soft!

Only FIVE players in the post-season have ever averaged the double double Dwight Howard is this year:

Hakeem Olajuwon
Time Duncan
Kevin Garnet
Charles Barkley
Shaq

The Rockets are up against not only the Warriors, but also against history. In NBA history, teams that go up 2-0 in a best-of-seven series have gone on to win 94 percent of the time. But let us not forget, that the Rockets have faced this kind of obstacle before. And won a championship! Houston is 2-13 in best-of-seven series when trailing 2-0. Both comebacks came during their title seasons (1994, 1995).

Come on bro, in what bizzaro world universe is THIS rockets team anywhere near close to the Dream era Rockets??

Dream bringing the rockets back from both 1-3, 0-2 TWICE, and being only 6th seed to win championship is precisely why it was an alltime great team... these rockets? How do they in any way even remotely compare?

You can call me juvenille, but you're the one with childishly unrealistic expectations

Wrong thread. The baseball thread is over here

Bytor Peltor 05.24.2015 10:13 AM

The Golden State Warriors had scored enough points (92) by the end of the 3rd Quarter to beat Houston last night.

Stephen Curry is having an NBA Postseason like we've never seen before.

Stephen Curry, Michael Jordan (May 31, 1993 vs NYK) are only players in Confrence Finals history to make 5 3s, score 40 pts, shoot 55% from field.

Steph Curry's ridiculous shot chart thru 3 games of WCF......100% from left corner.

Stephen Curry on building a 25pt lead at halftime: “We didn’t turn the ball over. That’s how you keep momentum on your side.”

Draymond Green's nine double-doubles this postseason is tied with Wilt Chamberlain for second-most in a single postseason by a Warrior.

Per Elias: Last nights win in Houston is also the Warriors' largest road playoff win since a 39-point victory on 4/6/48 at St. Louis.

Golden State had 60 boards to Rockets 39.

Prigioni didn't play in 2nd half of Game 2 or 3. Checked in late 1stQ, out in early 2ndQ in both - never went back into either game.

From what little I saw of the game, Jason Terry didn't even compete.

Curry boxing out Howard explains a alot.

James Harden averaged 33 points (shot 58.5 %), 10.5 rebounds, 9 assists, 3.5 steals in the first two games......last night: 17 pts(18.8 %), 3 rebounds, 4 assists.

James Harden: "They outworked us, they killed us on the glass. We were playing downhill, trying to catch up basically the entire game."

I was with the family last night over in Katy, Texas for a cousins graduation (from U of H) blowout at the No Label Brewing Co. The game was on, and I got to watch most of the first half......which sickened me! We ended up heading home then due to all the pending storms that were approaching.

The plan was to wake up this morning and watch the slaughter on the DVR. Instead, waking up to unrepresented flooding all over Southern Texas.

OH - and I'm totally waiting for the day Steph Curry finally comes out and tell us he's really Jesus and just wanted to hoop before the world ended.

I just thought Saturday Night / Sunday Morning flooding was unprecedented......looks to be much worse tonight, at least on my side of the State. Took me 45 minutes to reach work, and there was hail. Due to the weather, the satellite lost the game and I only saw one minute of the 4th Q.

FINALLY......Going Back To Cali!

Bytor Peltor 05.26.2015 12:16 AM

OMG - tune in to Rockets post game via iHeart and all the discussion is about the flooding. Toyota Center has local news playing on the jumbotron, urging fans to shelter in place. Many reports / tweets referencing Tropicsl Storm Allison.....looks like it's all headed my direction.

0200 update: Dwight Howard along with other Rockets players, also stuck at the Toyota Center, entered the arena signing autographs and visiting with stranded fans......fans were still there at 3:00 AM.

Such things happen when:

Bytor Peltor 05.26.2015 08:20 AM

The Golden State Warriors reporting that Curry did not receive X-rays, contradicting earlier reports......something not adding up = O U C H

Now thru Four Games:

Harden: 32 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 6.8 apg, 2.3 spg, 2.8 to/pg.
Curry: 32.5 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 5.5 apg, 1.3 spg, 2.8 to/pg.

Splash Brothers combine for 47 points last night......which is just two points more than the Rockets scored in the 1st Q.

James Harden became the first Rockets to score 45 points in a postseason game since Olajuwon (95)......and some mad that Harden went to the Drake concert the night before.

Speculation this morning that the NBA may raise Dwight Howard's, Flagrant 1 to a Flagrant 2 later today.

I doubt Rockets need this as billboard material:

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 05.26.2015 10:03 PM

Bytor Peltor 05.27.2015 05:30 PM

LeBron James is the first player since the non-dynasty Celtic team of the 60's to play in FIVE straight NBA Finals.

Heard today on the radio that a member of the Atlanta Hawks who normally wore LeBron shoes during the regular season, but elected to wear some other shoe during the series with the Cavilers......that sure helped???

ESPN says Game 4 of West finals was most-watched game of these NBA playoffs, with 9.4 million viewers......most since 2003.

I bet the powers that be in Oklahoma never figured James Harden would reach 45 points in a playoff game before Kevin Durant or Russell Westbrook.

The 45 points Houston scored in the 1st Q of Game Four was more points than the Rockets scored in either half of Game Three.

I wonder how sore Curry is feeling today?

Bytor Peltor 05.28.2015 08:55 AM

Series & Season Over

James Harden's 8 turnovers in the 1st half ties for most by any player in any half of playoff game in last 15 years......ended with 13 for the game.

By comparison, Harden had 11 turnovers in WCF games 1-4 (155 minutes, 20 secs played). Then had 13 turnovers in game 5 (43:15 played)

Hard to believe Rockets were in a game that Harden had a playoff record tying 11 turnovers - but after 3, Houston was only down 74-68.

In WCF, Harden (12-28), Ariza (10-23) & Smith (10-25) each hit 40% or better on 3's......teammates combined to make just 10-50 (20%)

Stephen Curry to James Harden: "You Pushed Me All Season Long."

Stephen Curry now has the NBA records for most postseason threes in a four-game series (20), five-game series (27) and six-game series (26).

Warriors were able to use 3 very different primary defenders (Andre, Barnes, Klay) on James Harden over 5 game series......that was huge for them!

Like the 4th Q against the LA Clippers, I was hoping McHale would keep Harden on the bench in the 4th Q last night.

Steve Kerr: "Iguodala might have had the greatest 6-point game I've ever seen. We put him on James a lot......his D on Harden was key to game."

Rockets couldn't capitalize on:

Curry's ineffectiveness
Klay Thompson foul trouble / head injury
Draymond Green having his worst game of the series

Congrats GSW!

Speaking of the Rockets, here are some "needs attention" in the off season:

Bytor Peltor 06.05.2015 09:37 AM

LeBron drops 44 (just like Harden) and it wasn't enough (just like Rockets)

King James improved to 1-9 in Game One Road Games of a playoff series......losing by an average of 10+ points.

After LeBron tied the game at 96 with 2:38 remaining in the 4th, here is what the Cavs shot selection looked like:

It appears that Steph Curry will continue playing against backups and injured players all playoffs......not that I think it would matter all that much!

Kerr on his first Finals game as a coach: "It was great. This is so much fun. This is what we all dream of."

Time to wait for Game Two......on Sunday

^^^top left picture (right of Curry)......is that Reverend Jessie Jackson

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 06.05.2015 11:52 AM

Fucking shit kyrie going down is just ridiculous bad luck (with a dash of bad coaching).. Lebrron is officially John Elway now and the Finals just got too boring to waste time watching..

Rob Instigator 06.05.2015 12:07 PM

The Warrior fanbase is gonna flip out! I remember like it was yesterday the 94 Rockets win vs. Knickerbockers and the feeling of overwhelming joy and RELIEF at finally being CHAMPIONS>

The sweep the year later was even better.

Go Warriors.

BTW, Monday 6-8-2015 on NBA TV documentary about the 1994-1995 Rockets airs - CLUTCH CITY

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 06.05.2015 01:23 PM

Meh.. im not hating on Warriors, neither suggesting an asterisk or anything, but a boring Finals is a boring Finals. Last year was a boring Finals, this year will be a boring Finals without Kyrie, period. Id honestly rather watch replays of the Dream Rockets than this shit

Rob Instigator 06.08.2015 01:15 PM

two OT games, series tied 1-1. Not boring yet

I was surprised like a muthafucker! Delly shut Curry down.

That was a 90s Finals game right there, pure grit and balls.

schizophrenicroom 06.08.2015 04:15 PM

lol @ the refs last night. that jump ball stuff was kinda nonsense. and a few totally missed calls. but yeah, finally a "fun" game of these playoffs (minus i guess the last clippers/spurs game)- dellavedova shutting down curry was massively entertaining

Bytor Peltor 06.09.2015 09:53 AM

Per ABC Sports: Game One of the 2015 NBA Finals was the most viewed Finals Game since ABC started airing them.

First time EVER the first two games of the NBA Finals went to OT

GSW are now 8-2 at home in the NBA Postseason.

Very reminicent of Piston / Knicks 90's smash-mouth......one of the strangest postseason games I've ever watched.

Jerry West calls Steph Curry, "the most unique player I've ever seen." Says Curry replaced Magic for him in that regard. I believe we will see that Steph Curry in a mighty way to close out the series.

I'm so glad we only had to wait until tonight for Game Three.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 06.09.2015 10:53 AM

Steph is a crazy 3 shooter but jerry west is talking out of his ass.. curry's career is to small for best ever of anything.. also sure he shoots the 3 but what about the midrange? Hook shots on layups? Until the guy demonstrably expands his game i ain't calling him best ever aside from maybe best 3pt shooter..

And that isn't hating by the way, i like steph curry.

Speaking of jerry west, lebrons 44+39 are most in consecutive Finals Games since The Logo did it in the 60s.. win or lose we are witnessing greatness

Bytor Peltor 06.10.2015 09:50 AM

The 37 first-half points are a season-low for the Warriors......their 100th game of the season.

GSW trail 2-1 for the second time this post season.

Cavaliers improve to 7-1 at home this postseason......have won 5 straight at The Q.

At the half, LeBron had 13 points and 9 boards, while Curry had just 3 points.......17 of Curry's 27 points in the fourth quarter

LeBron made 6 shots in 1st half (6-17) - same as Warriors starters combined (6-27).

LeBron James has missed 64 shots (43-107, 40.2%) in 1st 3 games. Steph Curry has attempted 63 shots (25-63, 39.7%).

I kept wondering if the NBA was going to step up it's anti-bullying campaign......all that bodying had Curry off his game.

Did Matthew Dellavedova dive at Draymond Green’s knees?

LeBron now with 44, 39 and 40 points over the first three games of the NBA Finals.......most ever! (passing Rick Berry)

Game One: 44 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists (18-38 FG)
Game Two: 39 points, 16 rebounds, 11 assists (11-35 FG)
Game Three: 40 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists (14-34 FG)

Cavaliers: 4-0 this postseason in games that both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love do not play......2-0 vs. ATL, 2-0 vs. GSW.

In NBA Finals history, the Game 3 winner of a series tied 1-1 has gone on to win the series 84 percent of the time.

Warriors have not had the lead after ANY quarter in the NBA Finals......only led after OT of Game 1.

Kobe Bryant: "Cavs playing as if their life is on the line G.S playing as if they have more NBAFinals down the line."

LeBron on Matthew Dellavedova: "If the ball is on the ground, he's going be the first guy to the ground."

Dellavedova was scheduled for podium, but was announced he was receiving treatment for cramping so was not available to media.

The Johnny Football jinx could raise it's head before all is said and done!

Unfortunately, I have yet to see it. We don't get NBA TV, however, my cousin does and she said her husband recorded it, so I hope to watch in the near future. In the last two weeks, I've heard radio interviews with Mad Max, OT and Sam Cassell......it was great listening to those guys reminisce about the Championship years.

They turned the Wortham Center Rocket Red for the Clutch City premiere.

Rob Instigator 06.10.2015 10:50 AM

It was great. TONS of behind the scenes stuff I had never seen before.

One story

Vernon Maxwell is talking about how he was a very unstable, angry player on the court, and how he would often stay that way off the court. He said that when he would get mad he would spit on the floor in disgust, and he did that in the locker room. Dream called him out and said something like "Max, why do you spit? That is disrespectful. Do not spit around me."
and of course, Mad Max goes ahead and spits again. He says Dream stood up, walked over to where Mad Max was sitting at his locker, said nothing, and col'cocked a hard slap across Vernon's face!!! No one said shit!

Bytor Peltor 06.10.2015 10:51 AM

I heard something on Houston Sports Radio yesterday regarding a topic that possibly could offend some. It has been a "trend" on Twitter, well, just below the surface with it's own set of hashtags.

Anyway......is this happening in the black community?

Rob Instigator 06.10.2015 11:00 AM

Utah and Boston are usually the "whitest" teams in NBA

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 06.10.2015 02:09 PM

Dude.. Lebron just morphed into a combo of 93 Finals MJ (you know where Jordan decided to take Barkley's MVP personal) and 81 Finals Magic

Wade was just looking stunned at Lebron in the postgame on SportsCenter.. even if cavs lose we are seeing something unique.. i was totally wrong and am happy to be so

Rob Instigator 06.10.2015 02:54 PM

I always thought LeBron was a great combination of Magic and Karl Malone. a monster.
