Parliamentary democracy FTW.

well... furniture salesman bibi netanyahu has been running israel for years in a parliamentary democracy

but okay yes. he might has more money than brains— but he has not nearly as much money as he pretends to have. which is why he keeps hiding his tax returns.

he also inherited a lot more than he pretends

i bet if he put his inheritance in a mutual fund he’d be richer by now. sucky businessman only good at propaganda.

Based on a few minutes of Wikipedia, and the assumption that their government is similar to mine, he's still had to become the leader of a party which has formed a coalition. That requires some fairly clever diplomatic skills, and if it had been clear that he wasn't capable of the job, something would have stopped him along the way (probably).

Oversights are something that don't really seem to happen in the United States.

!@#$%! 11.27.2018 11:09 PM

big tent parties are not terribly different from coalitions, but the differences are negotiated internally

watch for example the current democrat battles for picking speaker of the house. pelosi, centrists progressives, the different caucuses...

trumpo beat everyone at the primaries and has been using this demonic powers to bend the republicans to his will. everyone from the evangelicals to the tea partiers folded, and those who didnt either quit (paul ryan) or died (mccain).

this is some nostradamus level shit ha ha ha

horrible...

but hey, before that was dubya with his phony weapons of mass destruction, and before that newt gingrich destroying bipartisanship forever, and before that bush 1 and ronnie raygun, and before that nixon... ayayay

Now The Dub (retarded war criminal) looks presidential, McCain (W lite, even if he showed sparks of decency) has been canonized, and Reagan (thank you for the ultimate triumph of savagely laissez-faire capitalism coupled with brutal Evangelicalpolitik) is GOD, while Jeff "the KKK was OK until I found out they smoked pot" Sessions, Don fuck-you-Sally-Yates McGahn and John the united free$peech citizen are paragons of the defense of democracy.

All of the above in comparison to President Tiny. Yes, "Every generation thinks it's the last / Thinks it's the end of the world", but fuck it, this is rock bottom.

Not devastating at all......even the DEMS know this and they will be clamoring for Pelosi to start a new Investigation once they gain control in January.

But first look for Pelosi to be the driving force behind the push to give President Trump FIVE BILLION for his wall. This will be a Veteran move on Pelosi’s part as she doesn’t want this being something that President Trump and the Republicans can run on in 2020......Pelosi is smart enough to not want this on her plate in January so look for the deal to be done by December 7th.

So....O'Rourke. He's going to run, right?

Thoughts?

evollove 11.28.2018 12:47 PM

He'll probably run. He'll get the youth and progressives excited. Not sure about the rest of the country.

Sherrod Brown should run, though. He'd win cuz he'd bring in midwest middle/working-class voters, which I doubt Beto could do. Brown just won against a Trumpian in Ohio, where no other Dem did well. He knows how to reach out.

"It's been over two years since Donald Trump was barely "elected" president thanks to Russia and our lovable-and-quirky Electoral College, and THANK GOD, the New York Times is still committed to introducing us to every goddamned fucking Trump supporter in America.

But unfortunately, the NYT (with reacharounds from Politico and every other piece of crap out there) seems to have run out of roadkill diners and Alabama hootenanny Jesus revival cousin swaps to use as backdrops for their Cletus safaris, so unfortunately it is just back in Manhattan. Specifically, NYT found the dumbest fucking people in Manhattan.

From The New Yorker's October 2017 article "The Danger of President Pence":

Quote:

“Trump thinks Pence is great,” Bannon told me. But, according to a longtime associate, Trump also likes to “let Pence know who’s boss.” A staff member from Trump’s campaign recalls him mocking Pence’s religiosity. He said that, when people met with Trump after stopping by Pence’s office, Trump would ask them, “Did Mike make you pray?” Two sources also recalled Trump needling Pence about his views on abortion and homosexuality. During a meeting with a legal scholar, Trump belittled Pence’s determination to overturn Roe v. Wade. The legal scholar had said that, if the Supreme Court did so, many states would likely legalize abortion on their own. “You see?” Trump asked Pence. “You’ve wasted all this time and energy on it, and it’s not going to end abortion anyway.” When the conversation turned to gay rights, Trump motioned toward Pence and joked, “Don’t ask that guy—he wants to hang them all!”

choc e-Claire 11.29.2018 06:53 PM

Pence probably offers significantly more danger than Trump, for one reason: he actually knows what he's doing.

Trump's managed to swing his way wildly through two years without cocking things up too badly for anyone. Pence would likely be able to get the things that he and his fellow conservatives want done.

I get what you are saying, but I bolded a part that I think needs clarification: Trump has caused so much damage. No doubt, Pence can do more.

Admittedly, my view may be coloured, thanks to my geographical and political locations. But when it comes to things that've happened, I haven't seen many that have really lasted.

The two that come to mind immediately are the bans on travel and trans military personnel. Both ideas are awful, but IIRC both have been shot down or stuck in limbo?

Probably just a lack of information on my part.

Yeah, I just think of "big picture" things: He lies so much, the office of POTUS is now a joke. He has set the bar so low. Sorry folks, but America Is Not Great Again. America is now laughed at. Worst of all, America is deeply divided, and Trump does everything he can to keep it that way. He is not the leader of America. He is the leader of His Base, which, unfortunately, seems to be well over 40% of voters. That's mind-boggling.

Oh, and Mueller will soon show us how Russia helped Trump to become POTUS, and then there will be a civil war.

Skuj 11.30.2018 01:53 AM

From Bytor's "source":

In late 2004 I started The Gateway Pundit blog after the presidential election. At that time I had my twin brother Joe and my buddy Chris as regular readers. A lot has changed since then.

Today The Gateway Pundit is one of the top political websites. The Gateway Pundit has 15 million visits each month (Stat Counter – Google Analytics). It is consistently ranked as one of the top political blogs in the nation. TGP has been cited by Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, The Drudge Report, The Blaze, Mark Levin, FOX Nation and by several international news organizations.

Jim Hoft was awarded the Reed Irvine Accuracy in Media Award in 2013. Jim Hoft received the Breitbart Award for Excellence in Online Journalism from the Americans for Prosperity Foundation in May 2015.

It's obvious that Skuj is all out of popcorn......probably for the best because eating too much popcorn can give you heartburn and lay heavy on your stomach......and it’s abundantly clear Skuj doesn’t have the stomach for the truth!

Feeling a little bummed that H.W. died last night. His library in College Station is so worth the trip......it contains a section of the Berlin Wall. I’m guessing I’ve been in the same room with H.W. 12 times.

Room = Houston Astrodome, Minute Maid Park, NRG Stadium, Kyle Field & Red Stone Golf Club

About six years ago my dad took our youngest (she was 10 at the time) to Hobby Center to see the touring production of, The Wizard Of Oz. Just before the show started, Mr. & Mrs. Bush entered and Hobby Center gave them a thunderous ovation.

RIP 41

Skuj 12.02.2018 02:57 AM

I used to think that Bush Sr was a meh POTUS. Now he seems positively fucking monumental. His political opponents have many genuinely good things to say about his decency and kindness. Bush Sr was able to organize a vast coalition against Saddam. Other countries were very willing to support.

There's an elephant in the room when having this kind of discussion.
