Balcony spring afternoon music
![]() (the English meaning of the word Spring is used, not the Dutch ) |
New Neil Young song with the mighty Crazy Horse!!
Shut It Down! (it's not new actually, it was recorded in 2019 for the Colorado album) Quote:

Isn't it the same version as the one on Colorado (but with a made-for-the-current-fuckedupness video)? |
It was the first thing I saw when I woke up. Next time I'll wait and digest for an hour :)
Now playing: Thurston Moore & Mike Watt videod by Stubba |

Nina Simone!
Started with the Fodder On My Wings album because it's being re-released and advertised as a long lost essential masterpiece. Well it is not (but please tell me if you disagree). To me it stands absolutely no ground compared to her earlier work e.g. the I Put A Spell On You album, or Emergency Ward which I heard next. |
Soccer Money by Kiwi Jr. Nice Pavement vibe.
|
I'm listening to Improvisations by Frances-Marie Uitti and Elliott Sharp again. It is awesome.

It's been a long time coming, but I'm totally hooked on Nick Cave again
![]() Started off with Grinderman to piss off the neighbor's with their happy stupid house music ![]() Fuck me, how many years have I not heard this. Shame on me. Brilliant! ![]() Fuck me twice!! His/their best album he/they ever made, even though some songs do annoy me especially his vocals on God Is In The House Lost my copy of the CD, should buy it again :( |

Continuing on today's Easter Caveman Fury:
![]() The Firstborn Is Dead isn't that what Easter is about? ![]() Kicking the Easter eggs into the pricks to pester the little children isn't that what Easter is about? ![]() Murder Ballads isn't that what Easter is about? |

Love that he brought in the McGarrigles to sing on it. Hate that he brought in Jarvis douche Cocker to dance in the "Fifteen Feet of Pure White Snow" video. |

Don’t believe you can? I should have added that I was only listening to a portion of the mixtape. In a mixtape trade long ago, the individual I traded with recorded roughly 20 minutes on side 2 of the mix and they sent to me......sort of a cheap way to finish a mixtape without putting forth much effort! However, I now wish I would have recorded all of them. My wife and daughter were cleaning out plastic containers in our garage, the majority to this point had been pictures in frames, from our house flooding......but today they found a few random tapes (no cases) and that’s how it stumbled back into my life. Bardo Pond - Adrop / Circuit VIII......released February 2020 |

Anyway I continued with Cave for a bit This is a masterpiece, had to relisten it again and then once more. Wondering who wrote the orchestration of the strings, it's havily inspired by Gainsbourg it seems. ![]() Now playing a Sonic Youth mixtape but I don't think it's "official", instead someone's been butchering along |
![]() |
Jazz by Sun Ra.
|
![]() sounds like these kids learned a lot from lightning bolt :D :D :D — eta: only highway star sounds that way, the rest seems to go revert to some jazzy/bluesy jams |
Jonzun Crew - Space Is The Place
|
Legendary set! they were one of the best jamming bands and they are criminally under known as such.

Stupid rule that you're not allowed to post consecutively in the ABC band thread. So I'll just continue here:
![]() Hallo Venray - Where is the funky party? This Dutch band already exists for 30 years. Often they sound like Crazy Horse, on this album (and unfortunately the only album on their bandcamp) they're more like Flaming Lips. The guitarist/singer Henk Koorn also plays guitar in the best Joy Division cover band you've never heard, Joy Division Undercover. |
Joy Division Undercover live in 2019
Close your eyes and it's just like Bono said: Even better than the real thing, child |

Now Playing:
Beach House - Depression Cherry |
Here's one I didn't know existed:
![]() Hallo Venray covering Neil Young (in 1999) Too bad their oldest albums can't be streamed (or bought at all actually). There were some fine tunes on them. Used to have them on cassettes taped from the CDs borrowed from the library. [update: most of it is actually on Spotify, including their first full length album King. Their first release, an EP with the glorious title You Don't Hit A Guy With Glasses On is not present] |

So it's a José Ortega y Gasset kinda deal: "I am I and my circumstance". Quite highbrow, these cats... |

This week I have been mostly listening to Shonen Knife (at the behest of my son) and a jazz mix cd that my friend made me. I need to catch up on making mixes for people!
|
Your son has excellent taste! Have you (as in plural form) ever seen them live? You should take him
Banana chips oh yeah :) |
