shabbray: confield is actually my favorite electronic album of all times! it's sooo great. Really hard to get into (I had to listen to it 20/30 times before getting it), but one you're into it... damn. It's like a world of its own. Incredibly complex, detailed, fascinating, beautiful. Uviol is simply gorgeous. Probably in my top 3 ever.
|
I love Con Field, I actually got into all the Autechre stuff immediately, but the thing with them is.. every time you listen, you discover something new and amazing... I actually like all their albums better than the one before it -- till it got to Quaristice and, eh, Oversteps... but Move of Ten is probably better than Untilted, which was my favorite for years... maybe, maybe not, it's close.
Autechre just rules, period. Definitely in my top 10 artists of all time. And anyway.. Blinkered, paralysed, flat on my back. They say our world is built on endeavor, that every man is for himself, wealth is for the one who wants it -- paradise, if you can earn it. History is the reason I'm washed up... My ambitions come to nothing, what I wanted now just seems a waste of time, I can't make out what has ...gone wrong, I was good at what I did. Now the crows come home to roost, and I'm the dupe. |

I've listened to Oversteps, oh, 8 or 9 times. I just can't get into all the songs which -- even though I'm sure they're not made this way -- sound to me like someone in Fruity Loops hitting randomize on a bunch of high pitched kt-granulized synths. I just can't get into all those little high pitched synth songs. It's not that I mind it being so beatless at times, because Move of Ten -- especially the second half -- isn't exactly a beatfest. Even Quaristice had those synth only songs, and those sounded GREAT. Just something about the tone, the high pitched melodies, and just the fact that over half the disc is this busy keyboard thing.. some of the little pieces work great, but it just becomes overkill. Move of Ten is 1000x better. Can't wait to hear your opinion on it.
|
Can't wait either, ahah. This and the Mount Kimbie album are two of the things I'm most waiting for this year - and they're both coming out this month. Neat.
|
how your slavo trip was fucking??????
I want more pics, pleeeease |

oh, it was awesome, man, just plain great. Too bad I didn't get to find a single black market with computer games in Akihabara. In general, it looks like the whole electro-spirit of Akihabara is slowly dying out and the part of the city is shrinking to make place fore more expansive neigboring areas (like Ueno, and, erm, do I remember correctly? Asakusa?). Anyways, this is Akihabara at night. ![]() I'll post more pics when I have the time. By the way, I'll attend a nice local festival next weekend here in Slovakia. Autechre, The XX, Vivian Girls, Leftfield, Múm, Crystal Castles, Micachu, These new Puritans, Klaxons and many others are playing there. Not that I'm that excited about the lineup, it's about meeting friends and having beers, but I'm looking forward a fair bit. |
^^sounds like the gentrefication also got tokyo. too bad that this way really exciting city parts are slowly dying out. same with berlin, NY and every metropolis.
looking forward to see more pictures!!! and abou tthe festival, I know exactly what you mean, but the lineup is pretty nice. nicer then the standards around here, I am feeling happy when at least one of the bands is my taste |
Yeah, that line up is really nice. Autechre alone makes it a great line up... Their show in Lille was probably the best show I've ever seen.
|
I am pretty sure they know how to let the floor rumble!
i am glad they didnt take the BoC path, to be a studio band only, which could have happened i think (music-style-wise) |
Yeah! Damn a BoC live show would be sooo great. I bet the people that attended their what, three live shows must feel super lucky now ahah.
Autechre live is really super interesting. I had the chance to see them twice this year, and it was awesome to see how, starting from a same base (they played the same tracks at the two shows), they offered a completely different experience. The show in Lille was super experimental and rhythmic, with few melodic sounds, while in Brussels there was much more melodies, etc. Both were incredible, though my favorite was definitely the one in Lille |
tell me your opinions about this track, please.
it's sung in Czech so you might have no idea of the lyrics, so just tell me how you feel about it as a whole. thanks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0mDGhK_9ks |

I really like czech as a sung language. it goes easy for my german ears, almost like english!!! but I think as a german everything sounds smoother then the home language |
I'm not too fond of the main melodic (guitar?) sound. There's something in the way it's reverberated I don't quite like... weird. I really enjoy the vocals and the way they're mixed, kinda drowned in, though (and yeah, Czech sounds really good). And the drums give the track a special energy which I like. Overall a nice track. The video is really cool, too.

They're Sporto, currently my favourite band around. I saw them live 1 week prior to my Asian trip and i had their album constantly in my ipod while travelling in Korea and Japan. Funny thing is that the album production is more laid-back and has a chilly electronic feel, however live it was a pure guitar massacre. |
I'll check them out more in detail... Thanks for the discovery

Micachu are not coming to play. Fuck that. |
Damn, that sucks!!
The line up's still great though, though I wish I knew more of these Slovakian bands ... |

that Czech band Sporto plays there too, I'm psyched for them. I hope I'm not too drunk tonight. |
Ahah I'll pray for you not to drink too much. :D
I'm going to Dour Festival myself next week, can't wait ... and I hope I won't be drunk either ahah (though that's not very likely as I don't drink too much) |
