3 was the military one and the only one I don't like. 2 was when Andy moves into a foster house.

And yeah Derek Brother is brilliant, except for the very last shot, which is probably just a joke anyway.

noisereductions 02.10.2009 12:59 PM

I dnt think I saw 2 then. I dnt remember.

mangajunky 02.10.2009 03:43 PM

World's Fastest Indian - fantastic!!

afterthefact 02.10.2009 03:46 PM

I didn't know if that was going to be good or not. So I should check it out then?

viewtiful_alan 02.10.2009 05:26 PM

Don't know what to give it.
I mean in terms of audio and visuals it was simply fantastic, but the story didn't really get to me or make me think like say.. Eraserhead and was, in my opinion, just not told very well.
Reflecting back on it during the day I feel quite fond of it, but while I watched it I felt frustrated by my inability to get immersed in it.
But again, fantastic sounds and sights

viewtiful_alan 02.10.2009 05:29 PM

I do plan to watch it again though.

fishmonkey 02.10.2009 05:29 PM

Step Brothers, too funny

Tetsuo is the rare movie that deserves an 11/10.

viewtiful_alan 02.10.2009 07:21 PM

I loved it on one level but was dissapointed by it on another... do repeat viewings help it?

Rob Instigator 02.10.2009 11:42 PM

I think it cool and visceral but pointless as well

universal soldier:- the return

atsonicpark 02.11.2009 07:15 AM

To be completely honest, I too was disappointed with Tetsuo when I first watched it uhm... 5 or 6 years ago at this point. I was expecting something different I think. I'm a different person now though. I watched it again a few years later and thought it was amazing and I've probably watched it 25-30 times in total. It just gets better and better. You appreciate certain aspects of it better... because even though I've seen it that many times, I still see something new every single time I watch it. I think initially it is a lot to take in...

when i first watched in... 1992? 93? it it blew my fucking mind and i was spellbound afterwards. the opening short had been a film by survival research labs. holy mother of fuck...

perhaps its (their) themes are more commonplace today than they were 16 years ago. the movie is actually 20 years old.

fugazifan 02.11.2009 05:41 PM

such an amazing version
i have a test on t on sunday, then im writing a report on it

Which "Brother" is this, Derek?

I saw "Frost/Nixon" on Tuesday night, which was a very enjoyable affair. Frost comes across as somewhat shallow and over-impressed with fame, yet is focused and on-point when the crunch comes. Nixon (superly played by Frank Langella) is a man caught up in hubristic self-justification, yet also prone to moments of insecurity and self-loathing. Unsurprisingly, a certain stageiness is present within the film, yet it doesn't detract from the overall recounting of a historically-important encounter.

demonrail666 02.12.2009 07:30 AM

I've not seen that yet but have heard good things, especially about Langella.

The internet's full of 'tards. I can't believe the amount of people online who say IZO sucks. What a masterpiece!!! ... but yeah. VITAL is an impossibly great film.

Cool, that was filmed like 20 minutes from my house.

nicfit 02.12.2009 12:30 PM

Liked it quite a lot. I'd have it end in a different way, but still pretty nice. Almost "hitckcockian".

Plus, I love spanish language in movies.

Really? Where do you live? Cause it's not far from here either; my wife actually recognized the restraunt (Gordy's or something) because she used to do some work up there.

atsonicpark 02.12.2009 12:48 PM

I live in Columbus. I thought it was filmed in Anderson, turns out it was filmed in Warsaw. So, make that an hour and 20 minutes away, haha.

afterthefact 02.12.2009 12:52 PM

Ah, ok :)

How's 3-Iron? I love the 3 Ki-Duk Kim films I've seen (Bad Guy, Real Fiction, and the Isle).

I find that once you've got through the first hour you kind of stick with it, but that first hour is torture. Same with Stalker. You sort of have to mentally adjust to their pace, then they're fine.

atsonicpark 02.13.2009 09:14 AM

I wish Stalker was slower. What a great film.
