5/10
Boring and cheesy. I guess it has some value as trash.

Rob Instigator 02.16.2009 10:31 AM

women LOVE that movie, especially kinda crazy women...

viewtiful_alan 02.16.2009 11:25 AM

I was not aware of this.. good to know

atsonicpark 02.16.2009 05:42 PM

atsonicpark 02.16.2009 05:43 PM

I just ordered the new giuseppe andrews film, which I always do the second they're announced: http://www.giuseppeandrews.net/#/checkout/4532879996

This looks amazing!

Dr. Eugene Felikson 02.16.2009 06:22 PM

I've been meaning to check out Andrews' work for a while now, I just haven't gotten around to putting away cash to buy any of it. He's lucky his stuff is so hard to find on Torrent sites.

Psycho '98

Terminator

atsonicpark 02.16.2009 06:23 PM

Just pick up one of his Troma films, you can probably get one used for $2 or something. Trailer Town or Touch Me in the Morning would be a good introduction. Then if you like that, and you probably will LOVE it, do what I did and send him a check for $100 and he'll send you all his movies. Haha.

Dr. Eugene Felikson 02.16.2009 06:29 PM

I've been keeping an eye out for Trailer Town, but no luck yet. His role as Deputy Winston gets me to laugh like no other whenever I pop in Cabin Fever.

atsonicpark 02.16.2009 06:31 PM

oh you'll love his films then

fugazifan 02.16.2009 06:33 PM

GOMORRA

chairman of the bored 02.17.2009 12:11 AM

OK...time to start some shit...just watched el topo..i gotta say i was pretty uninterested/unmoved by the whole thing...it seemed each scenario got less intriguing than the last...i know i gotta give it time to sink in, but right now (after one viewing of each film) i think fando y lis and holy mountain are waaaaay better than el topo...i kept checking to see how much time was left and when it ended i was like "oh...ok...well that's that..." hmm....maybe ill change my mind after giving it some time but eh is my immediate impression

chairman of the bored 02.17.2009 12:13 AM

thats not to say i think its a bad movie per se, by the way...maybe my expectations were too high

sonic sphere 02.17.2009 06:58 AM

cyborg

atsonicpark 02.17.2009 07:00 AM

Stroszek - 7/10

sombre - 7/10

eureka - 10/10

Derek 02.17.2009 05:45 PM

Eureka as in the movie Jim O'Rourke took the album title from? I've been meaning to see that for ages.

Savage Clone 02.17.2009 05:48 PM

"Valley Of The Dolls." I felt I should see this movie sometime during my life, and now I know I really didn't have to. HATED IT SO MUCH!

atsonicpark 02.17.2009 05:49 PM

eureka yes

chairman of the bored 02.17.2009 07:17 PM

just read this interview. is jodorowsky full of shit or attempting to be funny? how much of this do you think is for real?..for anyone interested, though its probably a tl;dr for most. here 'tis.....http://www.subcin.com/jod01.html

Dr. Eugene Felikson 02.17.2009 07:51 PM

Adam it's funny you mention Philippe Grandrieux. I just began to download La Vie Nouvelle, and I haven't seen any of the man's work before.

Sonic Youth 37 02.17.2009 08:02 PM

I liked it and thought the 3-D added to the overall experience. I didn't understand any of the change from the book especially the addition of Wybie. That character was just dead weight, it seemed to me.

James Bond - You Only Live Twice

I'm not too sure. I think I watched all of it, but I could be wrong. It was very James Bond, as far as I could tell.

Eden Lake.
uhhhhm, not exactly great, but not too bad, it has some potential but imo a bit wasted.

Read all this a long time ago. Brilliant stuff. Listen to his commentaries, specifically the one for Holy Mountain. Dude's a genius.

Trasher02 02.18.2009 07:52 AM

I saw the Deerhunter last night in a theater. Good shit

atsonicpark 02.18.2009 08:23 AM

friday the 13th remake - 2/10

Rob Instigator 02.18.2009 10:21 AM

man I have not seen you give a 2/10 in a LOOOONG time.

That bad ah? I'm actually more tempted to see it now. I'd rather see a 2/10 film than a 5/10 one; bad always being preferable to bland.

barnaclelapse 02.18.2009 10:57 AM

Marty.

I honestly never get tired of it.

atsonicpark 02.18.2009 11:28 AM

Well, the Friday the 13th remake... I guess 13 people die in it. They all mainly die by stabbing. Lots of deaths but not really "violent", if that makes sense. Filmed like a music video of course. Lots of quick cutting and that digital grain look. Not "scary", no suspense whatsoever, completely forgettable characters.. even the old Friday the 13th films, in their worst form (part 5), had a great atmosphere.. this has NOTHING.

atsonicpark 02.18.2009 11:41 AM

regarding eureka:

Jim O'Rourke actually named his album after the Nic Roeg film "Eureka", which was from 1980.

However, the Japanese film Eureka (which is the best 3 hours and 44 minutes of film I've probably ever seen!), which came out in 2001, actually uses the song "eureka" from the album "eureka"... by Jim O'Rourke. If that makes sense.
