Not bad on SSD, I paid like $80 for like 120g. I only have my OS and programs on that, media and shit like that are my HDD. Hmmm...I wish I played more games on PC, but I can't get a hang of playing at my PC. Perhaps it's my setup....And as far as the size of Win10. I have no idea, I haven't checked. |

so how come you don't play PC? those are the most fun for me-- i guess the ones i'm best at-- strategy & rpg & etc. i suck at consoles--really clumsy with my thumbs. poor eye-hand coordination. 100% spastic. gotta rely on brain alone or i'm dead. |
I think it's because hardware. While consoles may be expensive, they're bought like every 8 years. I also grew up playing console, heavy on platformers, adventure, and fighting. The fact that PC barely got comfortable controllers is another issue. I always felt like PC pads/sticks were cheap and terribly made, and playing games which required movement with keyboard seemed absurd to me. So naturally, I stuck with consoles.
Hopefully one day I can go over to PC. As for now, I'd say I'm more arcade than console. The owner of a barcade I frequent treats us arcade rats really well. We're the first to know about new games and cabinets, we're really lucky. He's been huge in housing the old school players. he just got a proper cabinet for this game too It's called Omega Fighter. These games are nuts. NoiseRedux is a fan of these games. They require some pretty insane hand eye coordination and I'm trying to go toe to toe with the owner and hopefully bring some SHMUP(the genre) hype in the barcade. Anyways...I love video games, especially arcade games. They're so simple sometimes, but also incredibly challenging(since they want yer money). The harder the better sometimes. I love this virtual torture. Just ask NoiseRedux about SHMUPS and Dark Souls. |
@NOISEREDUCTO
You need to visit Chicago. I have a feeling this Barcade will be the best thing to hit Chicago since Galloping Ghost. They recently put Radiant Silver Gun and Omega Fighter Special on the floor. Along with Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo and Street Fighter 3: Third Strike this is slowly becoming the best arcade. They have Vampire Savior, Puzzle Fighter and a shitton of SMUPS waiting for a proper cabinet to place on the floor. The owner recently came up on something huge and won't tell us yet, but it's a big surprise. If at any point you plan on visiting or something you have to let me know, I can ask the owner if we can have a SHMUP night or something. |
oh yeah i recall playing that stuff when i was "a wee lad" as they say
i sucked at it even then! i was the dead pacman, the squashed frogger, the aliens invaded me every time and donkey kong... i forget what he did cuz i could never get there haaa haaa haaa. my money lasted 5 minutes. later when nintendo came out-- super mario? stuck at level 1 forever. baseball? stricken out. i'm just no good at it. when i was a kid i got an iq test. all results came out great-- verbal, analytical, math, memory whatever, all very good. except for eye-hand coordination, for which i was rated... "not retarded" but see, i think she was kind and gave me just a few extra points haaaa haaa haaa |
I have been strictly pc gaming for quite a while myself.
Yo if i ever get to chicago will check that place out! |
Dark Souls games destroy me. But I adore bullet hell shmups.

(and what games do you play?) |
I have a 3tb hdd and a 250gb ssd. I play everything dood. Check my sig. Playing Skyrim and Duelyst right now.

hey, i tried to post you this yesterday but the board failed and then the country failed and i lost track so.... that looks HUUUUUUGE! i won't have 1/10th of what you've got so-- do you have all your OS and program installs on the SSD, then data on the 3TB drive? or how does it work? my SSD arrives today of all days (good time to immerse myself in unrealities) and i'm thinking 250GB should be plenty for a just-games partition (no office, no photos, no video edit, etc). |
that rig is 100% for gaming. I've got the OS, drivers, and apps on the SSD, and then games get installed on the HDD. Honestly, 3TB is total overkill for me as I often uninstall stuff when I'm done with it and don't think I'll be re-visiting in the near future. Shrug.

i'll set aside 250gigs for win10 and see from there |
Civilization 6 - It's great

i'm really looking forward to installing that |

how strict are those games with the hardware? I've never played one and I always hear great stories about them. |
what are your specs, Evol?

some other games mix action and strategy, like the TOTAL WAR series. there's a map where you play and then you enter battle and it gets heavy with 3D graphics in motion-- like-- armies & armies, each unit rendered individually, it's insane.. RPGs can scale up or down depending on your system-- you can get ultra-textured characters or splotchy graphics by altering the video settings they all have their minimum requirements and are adjustable though. if you have an old system you can buy old games CHEEP. like, rome total war is like 12 years old? and it's fucking fantastic. 10 bucks maybe? i also still play civ2 sometimes. it's superfun and it was perfect in its way. civ3 changed the design that lasts through today, wasn't very good, got fixed in civ 4 which was great again, etc. |
wait...
Quote:
Civ6 system requirements are surprisingly low. I bet if you turn down all the graphic settings you'd run it fine w/o even having a GPU. |
which reminds me. If anyone is interested in some old 90s/00's physical PC games, or needs some PC components or USB controllers etc, lemme know> I have a ton of shit that I dont' need that I'm looking to get rid of.

really shitty. I can't look 'em up now, but everything is generic as fuck. The only thing that isn't shitty is the stuff that doesn't really matter(SSD/HDD). Shitty AMD processor and an awful graphics card. |
let me know your specs when you can. Like I said, I've got some spare parts. Maybe I could help you out a bit.
|
Yeah. I figured it doesn't need much if nothing too crazy is going on. I don't care too much for graphics(they're nice n all but....) so I'm not expecting anything visually amazing.

Thanks. Man. It's a real frankenstein I tell ya. I took an old PC from work and gutted the sucker. Picked up a few things to just let it run a few things and yeah. |
word. I have like 7 or 8 of those in my basement. People tend to give me their old builds in exchange for helping them upgrade or fix stuff or whatever. So I always tend to have a bunch of extra un-needed parts.
I know I actually even have a few older GPU's around. Nothing amazing, but maybe better than you currently have. |

and like i said there are GREAT games that are 20 years old |

I just really like a lot of the changes they have made to it. While some are quite simple, they still impact the overall strategy tremendously. The districts element is so amazing. It really makes you strategize overall city building and layout instead of just maximizing tile improvements around your one city tile and forgetting them. Wonders take up their own tiles. Also, builders are not limitless, but have "charges" you can use them. I thought I was going to hate that at first, but once again I love how it adds to the gameplay. being able to combine units again, but not in massive quantities is really nice. Just...a lot of really nice upgrades to the gameplay that really add to it overall. |

Shit. I saw this, I thought I replied to this thread. oops. Anyways...this is dope. I kind of want to do the same(except one just for me). I want to have a cabinet for my own board(when I purchase one). There's these things called Superguns, where it's basically a console for your arcade boards. This guy in Chicago recently started making them and selling them. I want to pick one up and buy a SF3 board, and hopefully others too, but for now I'm simply looking for a reasonably priced SF3 board. So yeah....if I get one I\'m hoping to build a sit down cab similar to the Japanese Candy cabs....that's if I doni't find one on the cheap. Anyways...I came in here to post some new items I bought. After talking about PC's in this thread, I thought well fuck it. It's about time I upgrade my CPU. So I splurged a little bit. Asus Motherboard Intel i5-6600K CPU 16gb ram. I still have my 120GB SSD and 1TB HDD so...yeah...Also...Microcenter is pretty dope. I'm pretty sure my CPU came out to $150. If I'm not mistaken it was 179.99 over the weekend with $30 off if you buy the mobo with it. But either way....$30 off instantly on top of like another $30 off from rebates....not bad if you ask me. |
nice upgrades dood. That i5 is legit and can be overclocked as well.
You still gotta let me know what you're rocking for a GPU. Like I said, I have a couple of older ones collecting dust, but could possibly be of use to you. |
Definitely man. Let me just put this sucker together and I'll let ya know!
|
my secret vice... been playing clash of clans for 2 or 3 months now
i like it |
Skyrim on PS4. Good fun after all those years.
I like them action RPGs |
Skyrim rules. I fire it up every few months and lose large chunks of time just wandering.
|
Errrr....actually. I think I used the integrated graphics on my old PC. I'm going to put it together this weekend.
|
Last night I went to the arcade for some SF3. They're having a private party this Friday so I figured I'd get some of the crew in to get some games in for this week. I was able to play my friend Adam for quite a while and learning more of the unusual matchups. Anyways...I'm somewhat proud of how I played last night. While I fucked up a lot in crucial moments, I was able to slow myself down later and execute what I had intended. I really need to buckle down and sharpen the edges on my game. There's a High Stakes tournament in January and well as of now there are 7 entrants...and I know two of my nightmares will be there. Adam has been playing since 2nd Impact(literally...I'm pretty sure I mentioned this somewhere but Im' too lazy to look). Anyways it's him and my 'rival' Quentin attending the tournament in January. I believe Omaha's scene might probably be appearing too and they have this player, Simon Woo I believe, and he's been playing since the golden days too. Anyways...I think top 3 pays out...so yeah...gotta play out my mind that day.

lol. Well then anything would be an upgrade! I know I've got an AMD R7 250 2GB that I'm not using right now... |
Quote:
Hmm....I can make use of it since I don't have any dedicated graphics. Thanks man. How much ya want for it(and shipping). |
Quote:
the first part of your post sounds like martian to me ha ha ha. i have no idea what you're talking about. i just thought you'd like that article-- glad you did. the 2nd part though i comprehend-- congrats on the upgrades sounds like a sweet deal! |
Quote:
anyway i'll still have to wait to buy but i'll glad to hear things have been refreshed-- apparently for the better? i'll have to wait and see.. ha ha ha ha... but yeah still looking forward. maybe by the time i buy i'll manage to score some discounts |
