I love Robins - although we're constantly having to protect them from the numerous prowling cats because they always seem to feed from the ground & not our birdfeeder.

They seem to enjoy just hopping about, don't they? In CHester Zoo they have some Chinese Pekin Robins - they're beautiful too.

It took having a child for me to appreciate the birds outside our house. My daughter loves them & I went to the trouble of reading up & finding out what each of them were. I knew the Robins already naturally.

It's great when children get into things like nature - they become so passionate and knowledgable. On a different note, Radio Five Live have just announced that cricket giant Fred Trueman has passed away. 1,000 overs a summer, tremendous record (back when Test nations were all good teams), and he also bowled well for Warden Hodges team on Dads Army before retiring hurt.
