actually warren might benefit from pete dropping out

that was before klobuchar quit. maybe her endorsement sends those voters to biden?

I'm not so sure. Her staying in the race does only hurt Sanders at this point, which I increasingly think could' be her donors' ultimate plan. Her only realistic goal at this point is as future kingmaker, in which case I can see her pulling out some spurious 'electability' argument and endorsing Biden.

I just meant Super Tuesday is tomorrow and just like SC, Nevada and Iowa, I don’t anticipate Elizabeth being much of a factor. Look for her to pull out closer to Florida, just 15 days away.

hmmmm... i think she’s a more complex case, not a puppet of her donors (although she started accepting big money recently). don’t forget #ShePersisted.... she’s a fighter. (speaking of fights, the supremes will be looking at the constitutionality of the agency she created. see: https://www.washingtonpost.com/busin...supreme-court/ )

she’s polling even with bloomberg at around 15% in various super tuesday contests, and while the date is considered make-or-break for both of them, we don’t know what will be the result just yet, or if biden can keep his south carolina momentum. some pundits are arguing he won’t. so a lot is still up in the air.

she also can add votes from both pete and klobuchar supporters. pete i had no idea but the polls are showing it, klobuchar supporters who want a woman president might not follow amy into biden’s camp.

i am not sure of what’s warren’s deal with bernie. they have been longtime allies and originally bernie ran in 2016 because she refused to. now she says she’s the most electable progressive and went after bernie a couple of times in the debates—till bloomberg showed up anyway and she found juicier prey. she still managed to complain about bernie’s supporters attacking her though.

if we end up without a clear winner and we go to a brokered convention she could end up being the compromise candidate everyone can live with—progressives liking her policies and the dnc having a loyal party member who once yielded to hillary. she may be less exciting than bernie, but also less polarizing. i think she’s a great policymaker just not a great campaigner, so that worries me a bit.

and if the shit hits the fan in old man city, we could end up with something like warren vs. bloomberg or warren vs biden for the nomination. at 70, she’s now “the kid” among all the candidates.

king maker is possible, but so is queen... even though it’s long odds from here, there’s a path. and she could also be bernie’s vp.

demonrail666 03.02.2020 05:32 PM

I'd have thought she'd burnt her bridges with Bernie by now. Never say never, though, I suppose. But is it even wise to choose a VP who will only appeal to a similar voter base? Isn't the point to broaden your reach as wide as possible?

demonrail666 03.02.2020 05:37 PM

But what do I know? I still think the only candidate who Trump might've really had concerns about facing is Tulsi Gabbard and she's nowhere now.

i don’t know with politicians. trump did intolerable things to curs like lindsey graham and ted cruz and now they’re basically his lapdogs. mittens surrendered in spite of the impeachment gesture. only mccain had the huevos to defy him till the end.

anyway, during the nevada debate, after warren opened the night by tearing bloomber a new asshole, she and bloomberg were caught on camera having a nice chat during the commercial break. unfortunately no audio was found. but who knows, maybe they were threatening each other with evisceration. traditional politicians can fight in public and keep it civil in private though

now in the case of bernie picking warren as vp it could be a real substitution given his age. his candidacy is not about centrist compromises, so i could see him doubling down on the issues.

hahahahaa!

weird tulsi is fucking weird.... but you’re a fan of horror so i can see why you like her?

now for a real horror movie, tulsi as bernie’s vp... yikes! i would have EXTREME reservations about that ticket... mainly due to her of course.

Purely out of interest, what is your issue with her? She seemed to gain a fair bit of positive interest early on and while I get not everyone would've necessarily been on board with that, I didn't see anything that made me think anyone might be actively against her. Obviously I missed something though, cos she's pretty much disappeared now.

you mean besides her being the darling of conservatives, going on fox all the time to shit on the democrats? maybe her history of antigay activism? her numerous pro-assad moves? her “present” votes on trump’s impeachment? her mysterious ties with a religious cult? her buddying up to her favorite hindu nationalist narendra modi? the way she shat the bed for hillary in 2016? these are “issues” of course, could be argued on their merits, not creepy in themselves.

ultimately what creeps me out is that she comes across to me as a narcissist, in a kind of teenage sort of way, like the self-righteous ultrareligious virgin at school who only wears white or something. not like she’s a maverick out of trying to accomplish anything, but out of self-absoption and grandiosity. doesn’t wanna get along just for the shit of it: just wants to be special. yep. want to be fuuucking special. everyone look at her. weird tulsi being weird contemplating her own specialness. creepy, creepy vibes. that’s my personal thing with her. i see a narcissist.

Fair enough. I watched her quite a bit after that Tulsi v Kamala debate and I liked her every time. I noticed quite a few comments under her videos along the lines of, I'm a Trump guy but she's the one Dem I might consider switching to.

the big day begins today and there are 2 separate main features:

1. bernie trying to win it all

2. biden trying to rub out bloomberg for the 2nd place aka “first loser” :D

really looking forward to the day’s developments, and by developments i mean stats. percentages, demographic breakdowns, and so forth.

ah, also on the 3rd stage i’m looking forward to seeing warren’s results.

I'm on strike from work and have loads of time to kill so I'm actually really looking forward to watching the coverage of this.

As a voter, would you feel disenfranchised if your vote no longer counted because your candidate withdrew within days of Super Tuesday?
