Initially I was going to take the all-or-nothing gamble of an all Spanish team, hoping o o o would do the same for Germany, but it turned out to be impossible. The minimum amount of forwards is two and without Villa only Torres was left for Spain's starting team. Besides, I then noticed that I was in the final of my head-to-head competition and wanted to win that one. The difference of 19 points with o o o seemed too much to catch up anyway, so I decided to mix the teams to have a better chance at the head-to-head game.

I've now won my head-to-head competition, but there's nothing! No prize, no congratulations, not even a fucking McDonald's Fantasy Football Happy Meal! :mad::(:fuckyou:

Agreed, Euro 2000 was a great one too, but then as a Frenchman I'd expect you to say that. :D

edit: damn, i just realised i can no longer win anything at the football game at work tomorrow, which was the only game i played that had actual money involved. i had picked germany as champions before the tournament started and if they had won tonight i maybe could've ended up 3rd or 4th with a bit of luck, winning about 15-25% of the ca$h. after the spanish victory i end up with nothing for sure.

At least, in 2000 the final was exciting...

it was actually played in my hometown (rotterdam), but i was in australia (melbourne) and overslept. i had set the alarm at 4am, or whatever time it was, but slept right through it and nobody else woke me up.

it's a pity there is no game for the 3rd place because i would have loved to see a turkey-russia game

Yeah, this match was...epic.
The former Dutch team was good ( Davids, Overmars, Zenden, de Boer, a lot of great players), but luck was not on their side.

I use to listen to these big tournaments with commentaries done by a really funny trio of semi-comic guys (gialappa's band) on the radio, they have guests for all the nations and stuff, it's superfun to listen coz they never take thinks too seriously, and when wiltord had the ball in the last minute my "favourite" guy of the trio said:

"tranquilli, questo qui non è buono a un cazzo"

then, like 3 seconds later, he scored and I was too overwhelmed by laughter to be sad/worried, so it was ok with me to lose with a golden goal after that ha haaaa.

One of the worst "sport ideas" ever in my opinion.

Yeah, it's a crapy idea, it spoils the game AND the victory.
It makes the match become a game of blind chance.

I thought about it but then rather felt like "Who in their right mind would put an all-german team for this final?". I already felt strange including Lehmann once in my team (in the semi-finals, along with a full german defense, hoping that he would not score himself a goal), and it felt like too much of a gamble to trust him once more... (although, in the end, he was not the worst german player on that night to be fair, rather one of the best)

Anyway, I also enjoyed that Euro 2008 and it's good that Spain won. They did a great tournament and it's cool that it finally worked out for them this time after all the past disappointing performances.

Me too... And by "scrappy", I'm thinking of the general mental state, not Ballack searching for a red card to perhaps lose with more fanfare than how he usually loses...

Germany probably did the best that they could do in that tournament with that collection of players, but their level of play was indeed quite disappointing. I was hoping that the game against Portugal would launch them anew in the tournament but the first few minutes of the semi-final proved otherwise...

Spurs fans have every reason to be excited about signing him. Don't get fooled by the fact that Brazilians usually aren't that great at goalkeeping.
This guy is very good and I'm glad PSV have to go without him next season.
