Oakland, CA Fox Theatre setlist
Tom Violence No Way Sacred Trickster Calming the Snake Hey Joni Anti-Orgasm Walkin Blue Poison Arrow Malibu Gas Statioin Antenna Leaky Lifeboat Massage the History Stereo Sanctity ---------------- What We Know Shadow of a Doubt ---------------- Sprawl Cross the Breeze fucking incredible. I'm sure anyone that was there could attest to that. The Sprawl/Cross the Breeze combo to finish the concert was the greatest 15 minutes of my life. |
i was there, and yes it was fucking amazing. thanks for keeping track of the setlist!
i bought a poster, which is fucking sweeeet, too bad some belligerant drunk being escorted out crashed into me and squashed it :( but i did notice they were sold out by the end of the show, so im glad i bought one in the beginning. the sprawl/cross the breeze was beautiful, perfect way to close out the show |

Lee was in full control tonight. He seemed downright giddy. I'd never seen him place his stamp on a show so enthusiastically. My first time at the Fox Theatre. A beautiful backdrop. Man, I've been seeing these guys live since 1988 and they've never sounded better or as charged up. Incredible. |
A truly great night. I would have preferred to hear Death Valley '69 or Expressway over Sprawl and Cross the Breeze, but I shouldn't complain, it was an awesome show. I agree that Lee was in particular really on it tonight. Hey Joni was great. Does anyone know if this was taped? I'd sure love to get a copy if possible.

Isn't every SY show recorded from the audience now? ;) There are at least two, probably more, AUDs from the Oakland show. Stay tuned for announcements (at least one will be on DIME soon). |
best setlist so far i think... if DV69 was in there it would be perfection.

got in to the Independent show!!!!! and got the set list!

oOoO world looks red & brother james! white kross too! expressway! is it too late for me to go to this one?
|
They also played Providence right before Massage That History.
|
In a word: surreal. It was almost hard to enjoy as I kept pinching myself that these guys were in this tiny place and I was 1 deep from Thurston. They rocked hard.
I'm in a state of shock!!! |
I feel the same way. I couldn't believe we got in. Then we were able to find a spot right in front between thurston and kim. It was amazing my right ear is still ringing, they rocked so hard!

Wow...just wow! That setlist is absolutely amazing. Plus, World Looks Red as the first old song of the set?!?! That would have totally given me chills! And I really don't think you could ask for better end of a show...UGH!! /jealous |

Oh you made it? What was your favorite part of the show? |
favorite part? There were definatley some stand out moments, like when Thurston shoved his guitar in that guys face, or during the last encore when Lee was rocking out, I also liked how Thurston was so interactive with the crowd. Giving that one guy a high five and dedicating anti orgasm to someone who yelled I love you!
the only drag was the opening band. I felt like they were under prepared. I felt kinda bad for them checking the clock and deciding what to play next to fill in the time. Did you have a favorite part or high light? |

That is such a fucking shame they didn't play the second encore. Still a jawdropping awesome gig though. |

I haven't seen any audio recordings show up for the Salt Lake City 7/30 show yet but some guy posted video of the entire thing to youtube. The audio is horrible though (search for Sonic Youth Gallivan Center if you want to see it). If I could find a good or even ok audio recording I would try to get a hold of the guy and get his video master to create a dvd. The video is pretty good as far as fan video goes. |

World Looks Red was really cool. That screwdriver jammed in Lee's frets was awesome. I didn't expect them to play that. Brother James at the end was great. The false start before Leaky Lifeboat was funny. Also, did you notice they played Providence right before Massage that History? |
Anyone know what they have been playing in Japan?

8/7 Osaka, Japan
