I believe the only picture I've posted of my kid did not show his face. girlgun is not under my control, but I don't believe she'd post him either.

in my language, klaatu as a predicator means "opposite of _slavo_'s language".

it's a small multiverse.

The comparison a bit far-fetched :(

How so? It's actually worse posting on the Internet versus publishing in print because anybody can much more easily copy and use your photo for any purpose.

Often this wholesale disregard for personal privacy that I see so much on the Internet absolutely floors me.

ScreamingSchool 05.10.2009 08:57 AM

I am a parent! I'm the father of a 4 year old boy. He's not much into Sonic Youth but he does dig The Clash a whole heck of a lot. Them and Daft Punk. He calls them "Punky Girls" I don't know why.

gmku 05.10.2009 09:06 AM

Pix or it didn't happen.

Savage Clone 05.10.2009 09:59 AM

I would feel guiltier about knowing I caused someone else to go through adolescence and the prison dynamic of the school environment than I would about posting photos of them. The younger generations have no concept of "privacy" with regard to photos on the interwebs anyway. They'll all put their own pix up all over the place before too long anyway.

gmku 05.10.2009 10:13 AM

But regardless of what they think, wouldn't it bother you on a personal level? As an adult, does it seem responsible?

We're all different, of course. And we live in the age of reality TV when it seems that the norm is exposing every foible of our fmaily lives for public scrutiny. But I myself would feel like I was abusing that child's rights.

Savage Clone 05.10.2009 10:15 AM

If I had kids, I probably wouldn't put their pictures up, it's true.
Heck, I don't even put up pictures of my wife! She won't have it.

gmku 05.10.2009 10:19 AM

Exactly. If my friends, kids, or wife posted their snapshots of me on the web, without my permission, I wouldn't stand for it.

floatingslowly 05.10.2009 10:26 AM

although I've not posted a recognizable photo of my kid for the reasons you speak of, you curmudgeons are bringing down this thread.

gmku 05.10.2009 10:32 AM

Yeh, a voice of sanity can do that. Sorry.

floatingslowly 05.10.2009 10:43 AM

those that feel the need to attest to their own sanity, rarely actually are.

Rarely being the keyword. I am that rarity, sir. And I defy you to prove otherwise.
