nicfit 12.23.2014 07:58 AM

I haven't posted anything in ages. Perhaps for the better..but here's something. something that looks pretty horrid resized this small, but hey...(then there's a crop of a portion of an eye to get a better idea..)

it's sort of an update to the kind of "vector portraits" I did a while ago...
Supposed to be printed BIG. BIG.

Rob Instigator 12.23.2014 09:29 AM

that looks awesome! it reminds me a but of chuck close but it's different of course.

Nefeli 12.23.2014 10:45 AM

love them nic! post more...

and yeah size matters. again cant solve this in my head. its been said that if a piece of art is really good, size shouldnt matter (????). dunno. some stuff look much better in big sizes.

Nefeli 12.30.2014 12:48 PM

dont leave ;) no, ok. do what you have to.

!@#$%! 12.30.2014 01:48 PM

i've been thinking for a while now that color is nefeli's strongest suit

@Plips
about egon schiele; weird -and thank you, its a compliment - you say this, because i never look at him. i mean, i only had a book as a kid, that i loved and thats about it.
btw, recently, i saw schiele in one of my dearest persons' art.

about getting political; you made me think a bit about this. even if its not my goal, or intention, i think that some subtle political sense, or views on life, come out from our art without even noticing it while we make it.
but of course, art with political purpose (?) is other story. dunno what your circumstances are exactly and that job, but perhaps if you are honest about it and show professionalism, some may see it as a good thing? if they arent closed-minded people. wish you all the best.

its some time that i have noticed that most men*, as opposed to women, have a concept, a story behind or in front of their art. i never really do.
* my sample is men/women i know from the drawing class and/or of social media.

and !@#$%!, color is the only thing that comes out naturally to me. for the rest i have to think more.

Nefeli 01.13.2015 07:54 AM

ALIEN ANAL 01.21.2015 08:24 AM

you could paint this in a huge canvas and make it almost abstract. i love extreme close-ups.

damn! you are so spot on! you describe the dream; flesh with abstract.
but hadnt thought of close-ups! excellent idea and would sell ;)

and thanks/agree about the nude.. it was going well/better, but it wasnt perfect. it was far from it - from close..
anyway, i should celebrate this day. hadnt had a day like this, like i used to, in ages. have worked for 7 hours. :)

Yes. I think there are a few more people with pretty impressive talent on here (some don't post much stuff/are no more "regulars", though), but porkmarras (wow, it's been a while since I typed that name) would be right on the top of the list among the best bunch in any category.

Genteel Death 02.05.2015 05:26 PM

Thank you but I thought this thread was originally started on the old forum so that people could post their work and just talk about it, maybe just look at stuff while they're rolling a joint, drinking a beer and looking at images on the internet. Nobody ever mentioned ''establishing'' anything. Nefeli is a much better painter than I am, Plips works his style and makes it his own with animation in ways that I can't, Antagon masters his doodling craft like no other etc. I have an enormous amount of limitations, both as a person and artistically, which I could really do with dealing with. Competitions are not a way to face them. Thank you anyway.

nicfit 02.06.2015 08:41 AM

I agree it's not a competition, it's true. I speak just for myself and my "taste". I enjoy many of the things I see in this thread, some more than others, and I'm just grateful that some of the boarders whose "style" I like the most are still posting things in here (it's one of the main reasons I still browse this board from time to time), and it's really interesting to see how their pieces show some sort of progression in time. That said, here are some weird experiments I think I haven't posted yet.
