sev, the Doom Starks album was supposed to come out in like 2006. It never did.
Any mixtape you have is fan-made. They have released a handful of tracks over the (holy shit!) DECADE that we've been waiting for the album. But, yeah. No album. |
Quote:
Yuck. That's disappointing. I kinda gleaned that from past conversations, which is why I've never paid attention to the mixtape in my library. The Victory Lap single and remix EP's are legit though...? they must be! |
Hey café,
I stumbled upon this video that I thought was going to be interesting but wasn't (read: I thought I was going to see some "artsy" porn... I didn't). What WAS interesting was the music they play at the very beginning. Sounds familiar. Very familiar. But perhaps a remix or something of a familiar track because I can't place it, though the horns remind me of that Nicolas Jarr remix of "Blood on the Leaves".... I just can't quite say what it is. Can anyone name the track at the beginning of this (stupid, Tn'A-less) video? Watch the first 40 seconds or so here and tell me what you think |

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to noisereductions again. Yes. That was the general idea. Though we both agreed that it was a great album and a masterpiece in an almost objective way. It's just that we both had an easier time blasting through At.Long.Last.A$AP or Summertime '06 than TPAB. I've come to realize how I like to hear the album... and that is on a random track by track basis, as part of a hip hop or "Best of 2015" playlist. When songs like "King Kunta" and "The Blacker the Berry" and "Mortal Man" come up against other shit, it's impossible to deny the jarring excellence of the music. I still don't listen to the album from start to finish much, but I bump individual tracks all the time. It was just... well, you know... It was just a bit too much!! |
Quote:
agree totally. I heard "How Much A Dollar Cost" recently and was like "OMG this song is so great." Then I tried to listen to the album and got exhausted fast. haha. |
Kanye said TLOP will remain a Tidal exclusive release forever.
|
The OG version of TLOP is about to leak soon. 'New Angels' snippet: https://vid.me/2gfC
"NEEEEWWW ANGEEEELSS, STILL LEARNING HOW TO FLYYYY" Wow. I actually like this a lot more than anything on the album. |
Dudes, that verse on "UltraLight Beams" has me listening to Chance like crazy. Hearing him in an entirely new way. "Juice" was such an insanely dope track. Acid Rap should have scored him a major label deal, and a massive reissue. That should have been College Dropout of the 2010's.
WHEN THE HELL IS CHANCE GOING TO DROP AN OFFICIAL LP?!?!?!!!! |
Quote:
The OG version? Elaborate please. |
Quote:
Yeah I mentioned this. He's scared of not selling records. Of not going #1 for the first time. Fucking actin' a goddamn fool. WHY?!? |
Apparently Fall Out of Heaven featuring Bon Iver and The-Dream was a thing!!! JESUS CHRIST THIS ALBUM COULD'VE BEEN SOOO MUCH BETTER.

Do y'all think New Angels was about North?? So beautiful.. makes me wanna tear up a little. This is the Kanye I love.
|
Quote:
um.... does he mean it will be a Tidal exclusive digitally, or does he mean it won't even see a retail release? Either way, I'm annoyed. BTW, didn't Chance say a while back that he's not even really planning to make an actual album? |
Quote:
Besides I think he's still working on the album.. adding tweaks and shit. |
Either way the album is available for stream at http://www.kanyewest.com/ right now so go ahead and listen, NR! We need your opinions!!
EDIT: Nevermind those are only 30 second snippets. You can still sign up to TIDAL and get a 30 day free trial though. |
I really don't want to sign up for a free trial and "rent" this album for 30 days. I'd like to just go pick it up at Best Buy or whatever.
|
BTW, the wife and I have been digging KING, so whoever suggested to check KING out, THANKS>

Feedback is my shit.
|
Quote:
DUDE. Just go. To. Pirate. Bay. Whole thing's there. high quality. The exact version on Tidal (aka the "final" version, but who the fuck knows). So many seeders it takes like a second to download. Not saying *i* did it. Just saying you should Fucking do it already!!!! |
Quote:
What? You like Feedback? I love Feedback! Are you just taking about this "OG" version? Is the whole "OG" version available or are you basing this on snippets? WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?!!! I stop following Kanye on Twitter for one day and suddenly all this shut has happened? Is he going to release the "OG" version? I don't really think he's stupid enough to follow through with his threat to NEVER release a retail version. If he did, it would be the first time he's actually done what he said he was going to do in.... I don't know... ever? This is too much crazy bullshit for me. I love the album, but now I feel like it's back on the drawing board. Pitchfork has reviewed it for fucks sake! Get over it Kanye, or make another fucking album! Jesus Fucking goddamn Christ! |
So according to that conplex article, the version on Tidal isn't the final version. *sigh*
This is both nice and infuriating. Nice because I want New Angels on there and Chance's version of "Waves" ... Infuriating because he probably STILL WON'T RELEASE THE FUCKING ALBUM AND HE'LL JUST KEEP LIVE FUCKING WITH IT UNTIL HE DIES!!! AAAAHHH! Louder- these OG tracks sound pretty much exactly like the rest of TLOP. Don't get yourself excited, bro, I don't want to deal with the soul crushing agony of you being disappointed in Kanye again (again, again) ;) |
I don't do PB.
I'm annoyed at this whole thing anyway. If he's not even sure it's done. Sigh. I need to back away. i'll listen when he's decided he's ready to release an actual album already. |
Do you guys really believe that there will never be a physical copy of TLOP? (Fuck streaming.)
|
Love this:https://youtu.be/PrQ4hckC7co?t=4m29s

Hey man I feel you. It's irritating as hell. But I've just got to say, even though I know it's absurd and childish: There's a new Kanye West album out there. Louder hates it, and you're too lazy/ethical to listen to it. This is *way more irritating* to me than whatever's coming out of Ye's tweet hole at the moment. But even though I think you're out of your mind, I respect that you won't use TPB. This is a special circumstance because the mogherfucker REFUSES TO SELL ME HIS ALBUM, and you know I need my new Yeezy in my car, on my runs, and anywhere else where Wifi isn't available. I've purchased every single other album of his. I only do this shit in extreme situations. So please don't judge me bro. |
Quote:
Ha! That's been me since Thursday. Only I'm skinny and white. But seriously, I love this guy's reactions. Pure jubilation in response to "Father Stretch my Hands" ... Dark contemplative head bobbing to "FML" ... This album is like an explosion of crazy feels yo. |
"FML" is an insanely dope track that hasn't been given a great deal of attention.
"Father Stretch my hands pt.2" is also extremely high quality classic Ye shit. But for me, "Famous" is still the motherfucking jam. Unfuckingbelievable. |
No judging bro. Just sticking to my guns. If he wants to sell me an album i will buy it. If he wants to dick around i will wait.
|

No I don't believe it will be like this forever. But who knows how long this dumbass shit all last? There's no way this album wouldn't have gone to #1 if he'd just released the Fucking thing already. He basically did the opposite of what people who want to sell records did. ALL streaming? Fuck that. Taylor and Adele sold 1m and 3m albums in a week, respectively, by offering NO streaming. Kanye probably could have had his biggest opening since Graduation if he'd just... I don't know.... had an actual fucking opening. I've never been this pissed at my boy. But at the same time the music I've heard as a result of this clusterfuck has been the best I've heard in recent memory, and I love this album like fucking crazy, so... I can't be too mad can I? |
Quote:
Aren't you curious, though? I mean, it is Kanye West we're talking about here. |

Of coussre i am. I just wanna do it right. This feels like a fucking leak. Its lame. |
|
BTW, Wiz got cut from NR Spotify Survivor.
Right now, Future is the front runner for hip hop. Anderson Paak and surprisingly, the new Rihanna are getting much play. Dr. Lonnie Smith and Bill Frisell are holding down the jazz front. |
Quote:
He's already declared it done several times. What's on Tidal is an excellent album that got a 9.0 on pitchfork. If you wait, you may miss what's out now. And who knows, maybe this is the best version. Also, I don't know that Kanye himself has said the album isn't finished. Not since Sunday anyway. I just read an article that said that. Like it or not, a finished album dropped and went online on Sunday. If he changes it again, that's kinda cheating. Unless he releases a hard copy of the album, he could keep fiddling with this record forever. And you and NR would never hear it if you didn't at some point just say "fuck it." Besides its the best album of the year so far by leaps and fucking bounds. By miles. By light years. I honestly feel sorry for anyone who is listening to Future or Wiz and thinking what they're hearing is the best of the year's hip-hop so far. (Though Evol is turning out to be pretty good) |
Quote:
Fuck I keep forgetting to listen to ANTi. I bought it last week but haven't listened to it once. Then again I have been a bit distracted :) |
Quote:
I respect what you say Sev. I am having a hard time with this. Kanye made this difficult. God damn. |
^that's what I'm saying. If I had to jump thru hoops (sign up for Tidal trial and then cancel it for instance) then I'm already going into the album annoyed with it.
Pro-Tip: It's a good idea to make your product easily available to consumers that want to give you money for it. So like I say, when dude stops playing games and just releases the album like a normal album, then I'll stop being annoyed and have the ability to listen to it happily. PS, I know this will happen. Even Drake tried to say that If You're Reading This wasn't an album. But I knew it would get a real release and then it did. Oh, and it got a Grammy nomination right? So I'm pretty sure it was an album. Anyway, I'm not real worried. It's not even March yet. There is A LOT of time to hear 'albums of the year' yet. Wiz isn't even in the conversation. I liked a handful of songs on this one, but this is perhaps his weakest major label album. No actually, it is definitely his weakest major label album. Future's album is really good. Though I suspect that any number of rappers out there could have made this album really good considering the beats. I don't think there's anything all that remarkable about Future. At least not from hearing this album. Truth is, many rappers out there right now feel truly interchangeable to me. Which is not to say I don't enjoy them. But, shrug. I do really like this album though haha. |
