Currently watching The Spectacular Spider-Man on DVD. Should have given it a shot way earlier. It's pretty much the most respectful and probably best on-screen adaptation of the famous comics. The characters are three-dimensional, the script is well-written, the animation is simplistic but very fluent and lively. Most of all, the relationships between characters all seem very natural. Many adaptations got this aspect wrong. I initially ignored the series because of the cutesy art-style. Well, never judge a book by its cover!

finishing season 7 of true blood in fast forward-- soooooooooo fucking booooooooring!!!

amazing how this turned to such crap. hbo pulled a showtime with this one-- endlessly squeezing a dried up tit until diarrhea came out.

Rob Instigator 03.10.2015 09:29 AM

Watching the UK House of Cards

Survivor

and Better Call Saul. Last night's episode was awesome.

Bytor Peltor 03.17.2015 04:02 AM

Just finished watching: Pauly Shore Stands Alone......surprised how much I enjoyed this documentary.

_slavo_ 03.17.2015 04:31 AM

I didn't like the third season of House of Cards as much as I did the first two ones.
More predictable, less entertaining.

!@#$%! 03.17.2015 07:45 AM

penny dreadful season 1

very good first couple of first chapters-- looking forward to the rest.

would have been fantastic around halloween.

ilduclo 03.17.2015 09:09 AM

misfits season 2, starts out a bit standard, but gets a lot better

!@#$%! 03.18.2015 08:42 AM

agents of shield is full of pretty people but it feels so derivative and just stays meh... hard to believe this is a joss whedon project.

ilduclo 03.18.2015 12:09 PM

yeah, I gave up on it after the first 2 episodes, heard nothing to say that wasn't right

Rob Instigator 03.18.2015 12:59 PM

I did not watch Agents of Shield because those nameless faceless automatons in the Marvel comics were never ever EVER interesting. who cares about the cannon fodder in a superhero world? Might as well make a show called the gardeners of Kree

lol i dont know what is kree or who are its gardeners and i haven't really read marvel comics in my life

but this show started with some whedon dna-- cute girl with mysterious superpowers, team of scoobies fighting monsters, compelling nerds, etc.

then i think it got stupid instead of heating up-- too many preposterous plot convolutions, too many characters to track and not enough emotional involvement in any of them, trying too hard to make connections to the marvel franchise, and whedon's trademark snappy dialogue is sorely lacking.

oh... i watched guardians of the galaxy(didn't like it much) and those "kree" were there. zoe saldaña's immortal legs painted green. i get it now. i think...

I was reaching with a hyper Marvel comics nerd-esque barb at the decision to make a TV show based on characters who are inherently superfluous (agents of Shield)

I am too much of a nurd.

LifeDistortion 03.18.2015 04:26 PM

If Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. isn't doing it for you, thankfully we've got the Daredevil series on Netflix in just 3 weeks.

never been much into superheroes-- it was whedon who had me laughing @ the avengers and thinking "this can be good". just killed my online netflix though so i'll have to wait for disc release (like i'm doing w/ house of cards).

but i just checked & rosario dawson + the readhead from true blood are going to be in it so-- i MUST have a look.

eta: oh and vincent d'onofrio! hell yes.

LifeDistortion 03.18.2015 05:58 PM

Oh, that redhead from True Blood IS in DD, guess this is going to be a Pg-13 series isn't? No nude scenes for her in this series.

ha ha ha!-- i wasn't expecting nudity-- i just like her

she pretty!

LifeDistortion 03.19.2015 04:19 PM

Has anyone on here seen The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt yet? I haven't seen a single episode and just wondering if it's worth starting. Based off twitter and Facebook this show seems so divisive, some really love it, and some say they can't watch past the first few episodes cause it was terrible.

gmku 03.20.2015 09:37 AM

Foyle's War, via Netflix. Fairly well-written British TV series about a WWII-era British detective.

Before that, we ran through the all-too-short Island at War series. Excellent stuff!

Toilet & Bowels 04.12.2015 12:13 PM

First 4 episodes from the new series of GoT have been leaked

really loved all 3 seasons. 4th... isnt working for me at all. i m pissed.

i hope i m not ruing it much for you...

also, the first 4 episodes of GoT have been leaked.

Toilet & Bowels 04.12.2015 05:17 PM

Only watched 2 eps, have to go to bed now. Was awesome to see Brienne getting real on some dudes.

LifeDistortion 04.12.2015 05:59 PM

4 episodes? Nice to see HBO is getting with the times and letting viewers do a little binge-watching. lol :D

!@#$%! 04.12.2015 09:03 PM

dammit, it's a pity that it got stolen like that. less revenue means less resources to continue making good shows. and i like that show. isn't hbo on demand already a reality? they should put it ALL online and let people watch at their pace. waiting for a show to come up is so archaic.

speaking of which, i've started watching better call saul, which got DVR'd complete (but i don't have much time to watch).

instead, after kim gordon's book i've been renting "the good wife" which is kind of hilarious-- not too good that you can't do something else while watching, not too bad that it's insufferable-- it's just tv and just right to do mindless work. concentration not required.

one thing i noticed after years of watching cable shows on disc-- these network show seasons are FUCKING INTERMINABLE. they really string along the main plot and lard it up with episodic silliness. which is what makes a show like this a great aid to sorting through boring paperwork.

gmku 04.13.2015 06:35 AM

Still enjoying Foyle's War. A couple of seasons left. Seriously, probably the best television I've ever watched.

Rob Instigator 04.13.2015 01:32 PM

Saw GoT yesterday. Good start to season.

Saw the Mad Men too. boring episode, but had some god bits. Mad Men has always been 1/3 dreary dullness, and I hoped they would slam our faces with goodness these last 6 episodes, but ... I have a theory that Mad Men will end with Don Draper jumping out of his offfice window and the entire run of the show is a flashback that Draper experiences as he falls from the high rise window, as shown on the intro to the Mad Men show. we shall see.

That's a pretty popular theory. I've still no idea what's gonna happen.

And! I thought it was a great episode.

finished it all, season 5. too bad to see it end. yeah, that nazi episode was great! also the last couple (superhero's of the jumper)

as to Foyles War, sort of meh for me, good acting, but the scripts always have the cop on the side of good against the powerful bad people, and that's so far from being in reality, it sort of put me off the whole thing. I liked Honeysuckle, tho :p

Nefeli 04.14.2015 02:05 AM

^still at season 4 myself.

EDIT!!!! karaoke probation worker HILARIOUS!!
and the whole cock story is good laughs.

watched the other 2 GoT episodes last night. woke up with GoT in my system!

I always try to watch Mad Men but just end up falling asleep. doesn't seem to be any difference between this season and the first, besides the years and the fact that I fall asleep.

seems like the ultimate nostalgic trip......didn't live in the 60's, so what better way to pretend I did than to have it go by in real yearly TV season slow mo without the 'was there, had to be there' hipness that hippies talk about.

like you can imagine lou reed walking down the sidewalk among these old fashion business men and bandwagon trailing young men who work in advertising. so I guess that's kinda cool, but I have no time for it.

Nefeli 04.19.2015 12:40 PM

dig; at least it has so far around 3 fuckable actors.

Nefeli 04.19.2015 12:46 PM

Can't recall how I found out about it, but I have been doing a slow rewatch of season 1 of "Parker Lewis Can't Lose".
