One shall be attending: Roundhouse 14 MARCH 2009 Q-Tip Gilles Peterson presents the first in his 2009 series of Worldwide 10 events to celebrate 10 years of his groundbreaking Radio 1 show. Q-Tip is the man who first came to public attention with the seminal Tribe Called Quest and has since released 3 solo albums and worked with J-Dilla, Erykah Badu, the Chemical Brothers and even Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. This is his first UK live show for 10 years and is hot on the heels of the release of his new album ‘The Renaissance’, widely reckoned to be his best solo album yet. Gilles invited him to play at the first of his WW10 events as a result of Q-Tip winning the Single of the Year at the recent Worldwide Awards. |

misread the month |
Holy Fuck on the 14th of May, Scala. Good shit at the roundhouse in the days following it.
|
Thanks, but Shellac are playing the 14th in Paradiso... I doubt you could find me a better gig that night.
|
But check out the stuff I posted back a few pages, the gigs in the days following Holy Fuck/Shellac. BBC radiophonic workshop etc
|
I definitely won't be around by then, maybe I should've clarified more.
I'm only looking for gigs happening just before/after ATP, because I think I'm going. Not necessarily just in London even... Bristol or Brighton for instance would be OK too if it's something really worthwile. |
Which ATP?
|
Well, the one that's from May 8-10th. :)
(i.e. with Sleep, the Wizard and the Lizard) Message to the people who are attending: You better start voting for some more decent bands, or I will burn down your chalets. |
Thats right folks, at the same bleedin' awful gay club I was at on Friday, and that yesturday hosted the delights of 'Duffy', you will find:
Throbbing Gristle / S.C.U.M (I wonder if the '+bf' means '+boyfriend', ha) |
and, for anyone who gives a shit:
ATP Concerts by arrangement with agency Group presents Devo |
Senor TINH - I'm very tempted to go to the TG gig - are you gonna go for sure?
|
Is there anything worth checking out Next Friday and Saturday (27/28 feb)?
Ive had a loook thru the last few pages but i cant seem to see anything |
Quote:
I don't know Throbbing Gristle too well really, (but by June, I will) but I have several friends who'll definately want to be there. So, yes. |
^^^Hurrah. I'm just praying that there's still tickets available by the time I get paid at the end of this month. Also - I'm thinking too of going to the BBC Radiophonic Workshop thingy at the Roundhouse.....

Nah, although I suppose I could heckle him in his native tongue. There's still a long time to go until May... I wouldn't be surprised if The Jesus Lizard end up playing in London around that time. edit: Ghostface Killah's playing the Scala on the 6th... dunno if he's any good just by himself though. |

![]() at Koko The Fall + Bobbie Peru 7:00pm - Wed 1st Apr 2009 One day when we all look back on our generation of bands, someone very wise will stand up and say, "the only band you could really truly trust throughout their entire career was The Fall." Why? Simple, because as long as Mark E. Smith has air in his lungs and a chip on his shoulder, he will be making extraordinary sounding records and giving extremely odd live appearances. And like the late great John Peel said, the reason he always loved the Fall so much was because on every album (and there have been many) they are always different and always the same, and this dear punter is something to be celebrated. |
I'm so there it hurts
|
lucky bastards! enjoy for the rest of us
: ) |
fuck the fall! they're up their with the rolling stones in joint first place in the league of bands who have outstayed their welcome.

How predictable... THE JESUS LIZARD TO PLAY LONDON FORUM, 11TH MAY Friday February 27, 2009 All Tomorrow’s Parties are extremely excited to present an exclusive show from THE JESUS LIZARD at London’s Kentish Town Forum on Monday 11th May. Tickets for this show go on sale at 10am Monday 2nd March for £22.50 each from: www.seetickets.com, www.wegottickets.com, www.gigantic.com, www.stargreen.com, www.ticket-text.com and www.ticketmaster.co.uk. This show will follow their appearance at the ATP: Fans Strike Back festival on May 8-10th at Butlin’s, Minehead (on sale now through atpfestival.com). The band’s shows at Minehead and London will be their only UK performances and are most likely to be the only time the re-united Lizard will ever perform in the UK. The original line-up of David Yow, Duane Denison, David Wm. Sims and Mac McNeilly are taking part in this very limited reformation that begins with Minehead and London, and will end with a final appearance in Chicago in late November. These shows will be the Jesus Lizard’s first since disbanding in 1999 and the first in twelve years to feature the original storied quartet. As anyone who has experienced the Jesus Lizard live can attest, they are one of the most intense and visceral musical assemblies to ever stalk a stage. This fleeting reunion offers an incredible opportunity to either be blown away all over again or to immerse yourself in the sweaty power and driving mayhem for the very first time. TICKETS ON SALE 10am MONDAY 2nd MARCH |
nice

I hope that won't be selling out too quickly? Because I definitely won't be able to buy tickets tomorrow.
