Got me tape finished. It's a good one
Oh yeah! I forgot to say "Count me in!" but uhh Count me in! |
Good.
We still need more people. Whats going on with the English participants? Get crackin'. |
i'm in.
|
I'll join.
(and I'll PM later) |
Good deal guys.
Nomadicfollower: I know you've got plenty of good material. |
Hopefully I can come up with something good.
Since this is my first time, what are some of the basic rules? Aside from sending the tape and $2 to you, what do I need to do? Is the swap anonymous? Do I make an insert design and such? Do I leave a tracklist? |
You should include something that will let us know who you are. Other then that it's all up to you. Artwork is a nice addition but it's not 100% necessary. Hip Preist did a tape without a tracklist and then posted the tracklist here. It's all up to you
|
Its all up to you really. I think the only rule we agreed on was no Sonic Youth songs.
It can be anonymous if you want. A few of mine didn't even include a track list. Artwork is optional too. You can review some of the artwork here for inspiration: Mixtape Artwork Which reminds me, I need to scan Glices and Finding Nobodys artwork. |
I'm not going to commit to taking part until I have a tape compiled, but I'll be doing my best to do it.
I unwrapped a new pack of tapes just now, and for some reason there's a label on the packing reading: "Warning! This product is fitted with a security device which is NOT MICROWAVABLE". Which put paid to my plans for having TDK C90 au vin for tea. |
Don't you hate it when you have an idea for a mixtape and you realise that the second half is knackered by a friend borrowing loads of records off you?
Mine's nearly finished. It's largely percussion-based, but thanks to said forgotten loanage, not entirely percussion. Exciting, no? |
yes agreed glice, lending records to others can be a real problem infact i know people who just flat out refuse for fear of never getting them back.

I stopped lending records out to people other than people I trust a great deal a fair few years ago. Around the time I lost my original copy of Lou Reed's Berlin, as it happens. It's easier to just copy things for people, or just not let them borrow things period. |

Ah, I'm not giving away my secrets. Some Indian, some Avant-garde, some hippy, some free-ish, some more avant-ish. I have no means of converting tape into pretend format, but if you ask nicely, perhaps s/he who receives it will up it for you. |
Or maybe he can join our archaic underworld and make a tape himself. If he wishes hard enough, he could end up with Glices tape.
Eh? |

Right, my package is all ready to be sent in the morning. It interests me to note that the above's real name (or what I assume to be his real name) sounds a lot more Irish than it does Russian. Yes, join in Mr Krastian. The more the merrier, etc. |
Certainly my first name has Irish origins.
My last name would probably sound 'more Russian' if it hadn't of been changed long before I was born. And even with its more original spelling, it sounds more Czech or Polish than Russian. I could PM you with more useless information about it, but I'm sure I've bored you enough already with it! |
My tape for this round is called:
Drill Sergeant Noumy's Morning Workout |
I like it.
I've not even started mine yet, let alone name it. |
