i read about a disortion pedal that kim had. she said when you turn it up like 1/4, it can kill your amp. so now she uses it as a slide

Trasher02 04.20.2006 02:15 PM

i wonder how that would work on a guitar :p

hey alex 04.20.2006 02:29 PM

i have a russian big muff and digitech pds 1700 (chorus/flanger) It's pretty cool, I think my next pedal's going to be a wah, or if i feel like saving up longer, a delay of somekind.

not mine, but what i t looks like

does the Boss TU-2 only power up other boss pedals or does it work with all others? i was thinking of getting one, is it worth it?

It'll power most 9-volt pedals, but you may need adapters for some pedals like electro harmonix 1/8 inputs. There's also 9 volt battery adapters which work good for pedals that only run on batteries, like the Russian Big Muff.
You can find these adapters if you search godlyke at musician's friend.

Edit: by adapters, I mean for the daisy chain link cable that runs out of the Boss TU-2 to power the pedals. Not 'wall warts'.

THanks a lot Chout

Reps for the dude with the Blue Box. Those things are great.

Magublafix 04.20.2006 05:21 PM

When this "thing" is finished, it will be my wonderful "Proco Rat"

youthoftomorrow 04.20.2006 05:27 PM

this is the only i've got:

$25 from Musician's Friend.

it sounds great with my Strat, but not with my actual bass.

You can see my pedals in both my youtube videos. At the end of Science Fiction, and you can see my board at the beginning of the WIRE- Commercial fan vid I made. Although I chose the music after I made the video, so I guess it is really not a fan video.

But anyways:

Look what I found for $50 today. An old 70's Small Stone (like this)! Sounds awesome. I wasn't intending on buying any pedals for a while, but I couldn't pass it up.

Ripfrey, how is the harmonic percolater? Could you post sound clips? I always thought Albini got the harshness from his other stuff- such as his guitars, pickups, playing style, amp set up, and chorus. Also, have you heard the Dano fab distortion? I heard it is a copy of the perc, I'm wondering if it sounds similar- it would be a pretty nice deal for 15 bucks.

Lone Flanger, how do you like the Slow Volume? I sort of want attack decay, but can't really justify the money, most guitar synths have it, and I'm bound to get one someday.

I'm about to buy a PB+J delay, problably in the next few days. There are a lot of cool bends you can do to make it into an awesome delay. I'm also going to mod my frequency analyzer to be a lot more versatile like a moogerfooger.

I'm saving up for some pedals, the next big purchase will be a ZVEX fuzz factory though.

Other pedals that excite me:
ZVEX Lofi Loop junkie
Electro-Harmonix HOG
Danelectro Chicken Salad
Electro-Harmonix 16 second delay
Moogerfooger Murf

It's cool. It's definitely a 'lead' pedal. You have to get used to playing with it and that can be hard so I'm not a real big user of it. Once I get a board together, it'll be on there though. I like it going into a delay especially with a reverse delay setting.

stirling 04.20.2006 08:40 PM

I've used the Dano FabTone - it was much better than I expected, but not quite right for me. For $15, though, it's a steal.

I read an interview with Page Hamilton where he said the Fuzz Factory is the best distortion he's used. I'm sure he's tried a lot of them.

My friend gave it too me. I use it for making my feedback sound warbly, making my harmonics ring harder, and modulating my echos. I don't use chorus too hardcore, so it is good for what I need. The high and low filters on it can match its tone to your guitar, which is really nice. What is cool is that it is not true stereo, so when I feel like it, I push the effect out to a completely cranked 15 watt ss amp and the normal out to my main amp, and I can get subtle noisy backdrops with oscillating feeback.

Oh, and here are the 2 videos I made http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=juliandunn

I'm going to have some live videos next week. Going to be a one man show since my bassist pooped out on me :(.
