I am confused as to what this refers to.

I do not intend to buy doubles of my singles, but sometimes you purchase something at the store forgetting you already have it, and also buiying lots on ebay you get doubles.

I love 7" singles. I love playing them all day. I love how even "shitty" songs like Tom Jones cover of Princes' "KISS" are like only $0.25 at used bookstores!

I will buy singles evne if I know I will only want to hear the song maybe once or twice ever, or if maybe someone I know likes the somng and will want to hear it when they come visit.

Because this "outdated" format is twenty times better than a bunch of god damn digital 1's and 0's in a computer.
Plus, it's far cooler to have an original copy of something than to have a mass-marketted, unlimited reissue.

You really dont get it do you?

This IS the sonic youth forum, and there will be an endless amount of threads in which Indie Kids/Hipsters/Vinyl freaks show off their collections.
You know how much us SY fans love our vinyls!

Theres just something about vinyls
I don't like how compact CDs are, when you buy a vinyl you really feel like you're getting something. They just feel better. Its hard to explain.

the next one probally should even be in this picture...its gene moore's ( TM big brother) album "twisting wires". i just keep it with my SY shit...its on ecstatic peace...really good mixture of folk/noise.

next is the dim stars. a poetic/punk ourfit featuring thurston, steve shelley, don fleming, and richard hell.

after that we have glenn branca's "lesson number 1" which features a pre sonic youth thurston moore and lee ranaldo.

and the green arron towards the bottom right points to thurston moores "please just leave me (my paul desmond)" its an RRR relase which feature a different an aternate sleeve insert than another one ive seen. terrible terrible terrible album. mostly high pitched guitar feedback, and towards the end ya thurston left the tape rolling and puts on a jazzy sounding album. ya can hear a tad bit of talking. i wouldnt recomend it less yr just a purist when it comes to yr collecting. everything else is pretty damned good though. least to me.

thanks very much!

iskandertime 03.13.2007 10:49 PM

Did I not see "Kill yr Idols" german EP in those pictures? I bought it in London maybe ten years ago and have blanked out the memory of how much it cost. Aso what about Lee+Thurston's 45s on Table of the Elements?
