Velvet Underground - who loves the sun
In spite of the depressive lyrics to song makes me happy.
Same goes for The Mountain Goats - Cold milk bottle

musicfallinglikesnow 05.04.2007 03:23 PM

You know, finding a song inherently happy seems to me for some reason harder than finding a song inherently sad.
But, I think this one goes to "Sugar Kane", most definitely.

Don't Die On My Doorstep by Felt (the lyrics are hilariously mean when backed by such upbeat music)
Slipping (into something) by the Feelies
Enchanted Pork Fist by Meat Puppets

Everyneurotic 05.04.2007 03:30 PM

i don't think it's actually what you are looking for, but when i feel happy, for some reason i get the feeling i want to listen to my bloody valentine.

noumenal 05.04.2007 04:00 PM

Anything by the Ohio Players. That's my answer right now. I'm listening to Let's Do It (Interpolated with "Let's Love") as I write this.

cryptowonderdruginvogue 05.04.2007 04:26 PM

TWIST AND SHOUT - Beatles

also, all of the polyphonic spree songs.

Savage Clone 05.04.2007 04:30 PM

Polyphonic Spree make my teeth hurt.

noumenal 05.04.2007 06:13 PM

Most of their songs are monophonic. Just sayin'.

lungfish 05.04.2007 07:00 PM

Wah Wah by George Harrison sounds like an explosion of celebratory love and life and the whole bit.
a happy song if i ever heard one.

Everyneurotic 05.04.2007 07:01 PM

polyphonic spree makes me shudder.

all i can think is that either a) 27 of the 62 members are going to overdose on lsd at the same time or b) they will commit mass suicide at pitchfork intonation fest (or whatever it's called).

musicfallinglikesnow 05.04.2007 07:32 PM

Man, I feel your pain!

I remember being drunk strolling down a road to catch a bus, wheeling an empty shopping trolly singing this song. However I forgot a lot of the words.

Cut Yr Hair + Range Life (and a whole ton of others) by Pavement
A surprising amount of Youf'.
Fire Eye'd Boy + Handjobs for the Holidays + It's All Gonna Break- Broken Social Scene (The new album seems to be so much happier... a few songs, no... but compared to You Forgot It...)

It;s wierd... one of the most upbeat and happy songs I can think of makes me feel sick with sadness... (partially because of personal stuff, though...)
That song is.. The Cure's Close To Me.
