Well the Situationists said something along the lines that society would get so boring that they only stimulation left would be to destroy it, I think they hoped for revolution but I think all we get is narcissistic anger, and the resulting apocalypse movies and pseudo-religions.

That sounds about right, revolutions are a bore, destroying is better.
