Sorry, Syn. You're cool, and I like you, but you don't compare to Tanky. Sorry. I guess it might help if you were female, and I don't mean that as a lecherous remark. |

But you would be afraid of Sarramkrop, though. Edit- Quote:
I know, she has an aura of cool. |

That's what makes you the coolest member. Your conspicuous non-membership. |

No, but keep in mind, I've been through some tough things in my life, like a move to South Carolina. Nothing and nobody can scare me anymore. When the angels come, I will be ready to go. |

Shit, I hope someone can answer this for me...
(I know it's not about the stylus but...) Ok, I just got a "new" record player from my aunt (it's actually old, but.. new to me)... so, I cleaned it up and stuff, hooked it up, all before realizing the the drive-belt was absolutely OBLITERATED (literally... it was basically in the form of chunky tar)... so, I went and bought a new belt... set it up, you know (well, the store owner set it up...). ANYWAY! I brought it home, hooked it up... and it... "works".... but it's QUIET AS FUCK! Like, at max volume, it's barely audible. Can someone explain this? Should I just give up hope and go back to my other player? |
They fly the confederate flag on the state capitol flag pole in downtown Columbia. I couldn't believe it. Insane.

I feel sorry for you, my dear friend(or internet acquaintance). |
Yeah, they love that crap.
"But dude, it's like....my ancestry." Actually a lot of people love that crap all over our country.......Western Maryland, Pennslyvania, and West Virginia (for sure) have some real characters, I tell ya. Not to mention the shitty booze restrictions.....my cousin lives in North Carolina and it's rediculous!!!! |

Is it a turntable, or one of those old combo turntable/receiver sets from the 70s? Hard to say. If it's a turntable, how do have the cords plugged in? Are they plugged into the right jacks (i.e., in the turntable jacks, not the CD jacks)? |
Quote:
Yeah, but funny how you only hear that line from the white citizens. |
Quote:
usually on your reciever the jack will say 'phono' |
It's a straight-up turntable (looks pretty heavy-duty, too...)
And as far as I know, the cords are plugged in correctly, into the "game" jacks (same as my other record player). Perhaps this turntable is somehow not compatible with modern speakers? I don't see why that would be, though... I'll have to check when my aunt brings me the old speakers that were used with this turntable...) |

it's not all bad. Columbia, in spite of the flag, is a pocket of liberalism in South Carolina. It has a big progressive university, fairly okay campus town, and people generally are pretty laid back. My best friends here are a very "out" and kindhearted lesbian couple--who get the occasional stare on the street. But my point is Columbia is a bit more progressive than I'm making out. Probably. |

I liked NC I went to Fort bragg, for my bro's graduation ceremony. It was pretty cool, a different vibe than L.A. |

yes, that's true. and it's those obvious things that can trip you up. Like I couldn't figure out where the buzz was coming from after I'd hooked up the turntable after the move. I spent an hour fiddling with it, then realized I'd left the ground wire off. |
