maybe you need to listen to subhumans again, because if anything, they are one of the least boring bands in chaos punk genre and definately one of the most profecient and technically demanding examples... have you even listened to 29/29 split vision? |
Not old, but easily one of my favourite bands right now...
Check out Be Bad. They play real noisy punk/rock, kind of taking hints from like, Black Flag and the MC5 and all that... but different... |
Some of my favorites (aside from the ones you said were obvious, though many of these might be too):
Germs Flipper Frightwig Man is the Bastard (though I'll admit I'm more into side project Bastard Noise) Pussy Galore Weirdos Minutemen Screamers Dicks Big Black Wire (only Pink Flag qualifies as "angry punk rock" per se, but oh, what an amazing album of it! many great records otherwise!) Dead Boys The Ex U-men (best forgotten Seattle band of all time!) Birthday Party Teenage Jesus and the Jerks (to me they were really primarily a punk band despite the whole No Wave thing) Derelicts (another great forgotten Seattle band) Gits (ditto, slightly less forgotten) Poison Idea Crass Bikini Kill God is My Co-Pilot Flesh Eaters Big Boys X Descendants Misfits Lime Spiders and going way back The Sonics! I left off a few groups like the Buzzcocks and the Damned who I love, but who arguably don't seem very "angry". |
Dead-Air mentioned all the classics (and more) I would've, had I chosen that route.
Anything loud that's Albini-related is a go, punk or not. |
Awesome mentions so far. First thing that came into my head when I read the thread title was VOID! Which Everyneurotic mentioned. Who Are You? is one of the coolest songs ever written.

She wasn't particularly small that I remember, but I suppose being on stage behind a powerful band like that probably made her seem larger than life to me. I'm sure it would have taken a huge guy to fuck with her, as she wasn't a wimpy femme by any stretch of the imagination. Of course she had been drinking at the Comet Tavern last anyone saw her that night, so that put her at a disadvantage. Just fucked up though. Of course just as bad when it happens to people who aren't semi-famous for being in an up and coming band too. |
i wouldn't call many of the bands mentioned here punk.
if it's because of attitude and not musical style, then listen to whitehouse and sutcliffe jügend, that shit is pissed! |
The Shitlickers
Harry Pussy Unsane |
well, I dunno if they've been mentioned, but a lot of the real pissy punk stuff like early Honor Role, F.Y.P, Toys that Kill, and Fleshies might be up your alley.
|
VOID!!!!!
My favourite hardcore punk band, sloppy, angry, insane. Also Negative Approach, DRI (first album), Red cross first 7" (angsty catchy teenage punx, not the wussy indie band they turned into). |
harry pussy? unsane? wire?
fuck man, i thought it was supposed to be a punk rock thread. |
punk rock schmunk shlock.
|
napalm dath is grindcore, not punk

|

|
dwarves fucking rock. "i'm livin i'm livin in the backseat of my car!" I wanted to make "Everybody needs an antibody" my yearbook quote senior year (I decided on "you tried and you failed, so the lesson is: never try" instead)

GG's music sucked though. his vibe and his lyrics and such were very much better than the actual tunes behind his songs. the dwarves had much better music. |
