Big black is great.
I've got songs about fucking and poor mans eight track. My mom though the songs about fucking was odd as well. |
Oh, I also remember the last time I did whippits! In that same apartment, looking out the window at the falling snow, blasting Big Black, until the snow, the sound and the throbing in my head all came together in one huge WHUPWHUPWHUPWHUPWHUP....

im requesting uploads, yeah i have nothing from them but cant be bothered to order (since its not in stores)

I know I have Atomizer on my laptop but I think Songs About Fucking is on my old computer and I really don't feel like putting it on this new one. So I could try to upload Atomizer for you. Any particular way you want it? Last time someone requested Yousendit, but I don't know if you have a preference. Edit: Badongo perhaps? |
Buzzo, use soulseek. Or I can use MSN to hook you up with it.
|
Buzzo check your PMs.
|
If you got Atomizer uploaded, perhaps you can toss me the link?

my theory of rapeman, i've posted it once or twice already, but the thing, two nuns and a pack of mule, the sub pop single and the budd ep are absolutely great, incredible because they show a range and level of emotions a lot more broader than big black (or scratch acid) ever did, but i can't see rapeman making another album, it's like all they had to say was in what they put out and after that they could not do anything else, for that to happen, ws sims and rey washam needed another singer and guitarist and albini needed another rhythm section, and that's what happened. had they carried on, their next album would have been redundant and boring.
that's my opinion. |
Big Black are fuckin' great. I own more Shellac albums though.
|
rapeman were excellent, their output and live shows were awsome. But there was such a furore over their name (certainly here in the UK) that I think it ground them down.

heh, i sorry for not reading this thread earlier. anyways, I like this, but I prefer Shellac or Rapeman. Shellac is my favourite of the 3, at least, I own the most stuff from shellac than the other 2. As for Rapeman, they were excellent and I find the whole name debate and shit hillarious. |
buzzo, listen to it more, it will grow on you a bit. Especially Passing Complexion. That's such a goddamn good song.
|
a few things.
1) yes, that's the link, i guess soundclick.com/[band name] doesn't work anymore -- wonder why. 2) "rapeman".. why was that even a controversial name? he was just a fucking comic book character. it'd be like naming your band "Scrooge mcduck" or something. 3) if you dig big black, you all need to check out the first bastro ep (which sounds identical to big black) and distorted pony (who has 3 albums, and each one sounds like a different albini band -- yes, their first ep even has a drum machine -- and their albums were recorded by albini; great tribute band!). |
Yes, bastro is great. I got really excited when Bastro and The Jesus Lizard came out, and I totally thought of them as being "post BIg Black" type bands or "those bands with the really good drummers" I really thought Slint was in that genre as well, just, like turning the formula on it's head by playing realy quietly... Tortoise as well! Also Bull, Don Caballiro, Seam, Strorm and Stress, Golden, Shiny Beast and others.
|
atsonicpark I don't want to sign up for an account to hear your cover. Can you put it on your myspace or something? I'm sure a lot of people would dig it.
|
I heard lots about Big Black and many of my friends have Songs about Fucking. I'm downloading it now
|
I would reccomend you start with Atomizer, but Songs... is just as good of an album, less angry though.
|
great I'll get that one too.
And wow, this kraftwerk cover I'm listening to is superbe |
