I've been looking through most of the recommendations you guys posted. Some very good stuff.
Any suggestions of bands combining guitars/drums with electronic music?

The first Third Eye Foundation LP is like MBV but with breakbeats...

A few of the bands that put records out through the Source label sometimes use guitars and drums, with varying degrees of success. If you can find it, there's a good compilation that is called 'Source Rocks' which is quite good and a bit odd. It has stuff stuff like the funkier cuts from Phoenix next to the more medieval-sounding early tracks by Sebastien Tellier. I can up it, if you want it.

Did you ever listen to Matt Elliott's 'The Noise We Made'? It's almost gothic in parts, but not quite.

Seriously, these people are amazing and get large crowds of normally reserved Midwesterners moving in a major way on a regular basis.

And there are some electronics at work. Also there is a bleach bottle involved.

I am unfamiliar with this.

I'm looking for blogspots containing things you guys posted because I don't have time to order. I don't mind a bit of techno/dance whatever, but not everything. Found some Vitalic, which is quite ok.
I'm gonna check out that first Third Eye Foundation LP too.

Third Eye Foundation's 'You Guys Kill Me' is his best, I think, but not sure about its party- factor. Great title for an album, when combined with the sleeve design.

There are a couple of tracks on the first Word Of Life LP (Swedish psych band from the late 1990s) that are highly danceable and fairly long.
Also, Circle's "Prospekt" album has some kinetic jams for sure.

that should do for now. remember, never play ultra obscure noise, post punk, free jazz, grindcore to impress people at a party. call me a pussy, but when i throw a party i like to have people go "o man i love this song", guilty pleasures, hip hop, classics, and some more popular songs by lesser known artists are the best way to go, hence the list (this is actually a replica of one of my itunes party lists)

great tune, but not guaranteed to make anyone dance their socks off. put it on late in the night when you want people to pass out or leave.

if you're going with zeppelin, swap it out with misty mountain hop. "hops" generally get people to dance, hence the term "sock hop."

But if I were having a party and wanted people to dance, I'd play a bunch of cheese from the '80s. In line with more of what you were asking for, I'd go with Peaches, Cibo Matto, Japanther, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Beastie Boys and Pop will Eat Itself. Siouxsie has a few great danceable tunes as well.
