I think its a dead end, i don't think i will ever find out who it is.
The song is played over the end credits of this daria video.


 

this may sound pretty stupid but shouldn't the credits, well, "credit" the soundtrack too? I'm not much of a daria expert (plus here in italy they always cut the credits, dumbfucks), so mabye it's an even stupider question. ha.

i have looked, and no they don't.
There is a website called outpost-daria that have full track information for every episode, but when they released the videos they took out all of the original songs and replaced them with new ones.

that sounds like they couldn't or didn't want to acquire the rights to the original songs; if that's the reason for replacing the songs then it's likely to be a pretty much unknown or even unsigned band. your best option would be asking around at daria sites i guess.

yeah, people from the daria sites seem to be able to communicate with the creators of the show on a regular basis, so i might try doing that.
