The straight brims are still worse. Atleast that hat has a bit of character.
|
in principle i agree with you, but the specific character that hat has more than a bit of wears thin when you're surrouned by conformist fraternity brothers wearing them, or the more clean cut version, the extremely curved brim brand new baseball cap.

We don't have to deal with them here. Although I guess we have an equivelant.

Footy players. So I guess the same, just different sport code (similar). They just don't go to college as we aren't really that type of country. More people work after schooling.
|
people in america look at you like you're absolutely mad if you didn't go to college. i say fuck college, i don't need it. i make a decent living, why should i waste my money on MORE school that i can't even get into seeing that i didn't even graduate high school?
|
Go to college, be a man, what's the fuckin' deal? It's not how old I am, it's how old I feel...
Well someone was gonna do it, so I thought it might aswell be me. |

true... but part of the problem is also that while higher education here is still excellent, our public high schools have gotten so bad that in resume terms, i.e. what will get you a job, a bachelor's degree means about the same to employers today as a high school diploma meant to my parent's generation. a shitload of people are going to college now to top off a mediocre at best high school education by essentially learning the same basics their parents learned in high school with some extra shit about computers thrown in. consequently, the people who would have gotten a bachelor's degree 30 or 40 years ago are getting master's degrees or phds... especially women. my ex got a bachelor's degree in microbiology and in the job market in atlanta at the time, that landed her a series of jobs answering phones. it wasn't until the tech boom came on and she taught herself some database programming that she found a job equivalent to her level of education... when the economy got worse we both went back to grad school. |
If you were a fly, I'd swat you, Sway.

I'd make an exception with you.

My old man's a dustman. He wears a dustman's hat.

I wore a beret for two years when I was in the army. You won't catch me wearing one ever again.

You took all that seriously? You need to relax. So aggessive. |

I have to agree with this. In America you need a college degree people who say the opposite are still young, and will see later that they need it. A diploma or a GED will only get you so far(Not Very). However, there are the exceptions which is rare. |

You can always go back and study though, at any age. But I agree with what you say. As I get older and the idea of owning my own house and supporting a family in the near future is now a prospect, I get a tad envious at those who made the effort to ensure a financial future for themselves at an earlier age. |

i suppose i'm a rare breed. |
What's a GED?
|
general equivalency diploma
basically it's the same thing as a high school diploma but it's for lazy motherfuckers like me who quit. it's "supposed" to be looked upon the same as an actual diploma but there's somewhat of a stigma attached to it. |
Go to college be a man, go to college be a man......
Shit was worthless. |
