You might as well compare Bach to Raffi.
(aw great - now I have bananaphone going through my head...are you happy?)

God, I'm sickened by the way some people will dismiss great television characters just because they're not movie characters. They won't even allow you to compare them.

Oh heavens... That is a gross oversimplification, you know. What about in Japan where there's more violence on TV than anywhere else, and yet where rates for murder and rape are the lowest in the world?

There are many, many other factors involved.

a little known fact about this case is that both Bruce and Brandon Lee were found in Mary-Kate's apartment.

both were naked except for painted on lipstick smiles.

mere coincidence? I think not.

To clarify, Batman Begins was actually rated PG-13. I'm guessing The Dark Knight will be too, but I don't think it's been determined at this point.

floatingslowly 01.24.2008 01:43 PM

my mom won't let me see this movie. :(

I'm totally serious.

I heard that Adam West was also hanging out in purple tights and cape.

floatingslowly 01.24.2008 01:57 PM

ya right. next thing you'll try to tell us is that he was gay.

pfft purple tights.

gmku 01.24.2008 02:03 PM

Dexter is a serial killer with enough morality to know he should not gbhe doing these things,w hich is why he tries to kill only other killers.

that is a big difference between him and a psychopathic murdering maniac who has no regard for anyone's life, much less his own.

fluxequalsrad 01.24.2008 02:28 PM

Does anyone else think Heath Ledger was a piss poor choice for the joker? I mean everyones been like 'OH MY GOD SOOO GOOD INSANE!!'' ... I mean when I think of Heath Ledger I think of like...nancy boy-orlando bloom type, I can't imagine being frightened by him.

dude.....are you really trying to compare the level of hardcore between two fictional characters and then translate it into a probabilty of actor freakout?

I thought you were a man of science.

:(

Rob Instigator 01.24.2008 02:40 PM

I was just making a comparison because gmku compared the Joker character with the Dexter character.

two very different fictional creations.

and fluzequalsrad, everything you say points to YOUR issues with actors , and says nothing about heath ledger or any other actor's ability to act and scare you.

Edward Norton is the pussiest wussy bitch looking actor around but he scared the crap out of me with his portrayal in American History X

davenotdead 01.24.2008 02:47 PM

Rob, that pic in your sig has been my computer wallpaper for a while... I really hope they dont change the advertising for this... I mean, I guess enough people know about it already, but still...

dude Edward Norton was not scary in American History X... I mean the curb stomping scene was scary...but probably only because being curb stomped is the most fucked up thing in the world. I mean the idea of a curb stomping white surpremicist is scary, and he did a good job... but I think you were suppose to sympathize with him more and see his good side then be scared of him.

Rob Instigator 01.24.2008 02:59 PM

I was scared of the man the character became throughout the movie.
it was very good acting, and heath ledger seemed capable of pulling the Joker off in a very good way.

atsonicpark 01.24.2008 03:00 PM

First of all - how many fucking Heath Ledger threads do we need? He's dead. Life continues.

Second, the Joker isn't a disturbing character. It's a fucking COMIC BOOK.

Third, Batman Begins was PG-13. I can't believe someone here said it was rated R. There was like NOTHING bad in that movie.

Four, of course they finished this movie! It was finished a long time ago! The ENTIRE PRODUCTION OF A FILM doesn't shut down because one of the actors dies!

You guys all act like little fucking girls.

gmku 01.24.2008 03:00 PM

So possibly the actor playing Dexter someday could flip out and start killing serial killers.

This could be a good thing, of course, and might give the actor more of a, oh, I don't know, sense of purpose, if you will. But this whole discussion does point out the obvious danger--we really need to start monitoring more closely the roles we're assigning our actors!

Gasp! "fucking COMIC BOOK." I can't believe your attitude toward this art form! (Sarcasm intended.)
