these are discontinued now and highly regarded. plus it's stereo.

they are plastic, but i had their flanger and theyre very sturdy.

I had an Arion analog delay for 15 years. I loved that thing.
I ran it into the ground and managed to find another one. Cheap construction, but there's something about it I love. I use it on my voice now, and it's the perfect thing.

CHOUT 04.03.2008 03:57 PM

any experience with the arion delay in stereo, Savage Clone?

avantgarde1 04.03.2008 04:00 PM

i'm not sure what kind i have, but i have 2 delay pedals, one of which has a reverse and a loop feature. there is now way i could play guitar w/ out delay... it would be impossible.

$75? jeez, they sure are highly regarded.

i used to see them a lot on heaps of broken electronics here, maybe i should buy one next time i see one before they become collector's choices.

I used it in stereo quite a lot, but usually not with the amps spread out wide enough to appreciate it. A few experiments in high school, of course, but mostly just goofing off.

i was curious if it pans or is just out of phase in stereo or what...

they go for more than that even.

Savage Clone 04.03.2008 05:33 PM

It pans, from what I remember. Delay repeats ping-pong.

CHOUT 04.03.2008 05:35 PM

nice...what i was hoping.

$75?! You can get the entire set of discontinued pedals (10 of them) for $200 bucks from Musicians Friend (on backorder now, but still available even though they're discontinued. That seems kinda weird to me, but I guess whoever they get their stuff from still has some in inventory?) I've heard that the delay is pretty good though, so maybe it's worth the premium.

The arion pedals cost $15-30 each when they were new and still being manufactured, I had the stereo chorus - it was good for a $25 pedal but nothing special. Something I'd buy to try and mod and mess around with.

I love it. Looping is a lot of fun with it. You can make cool sounds. The modulated delay is cool for crazy sounds, as is the reverse.

The SAD-1 and the SCH-1 aren't in that bundle, the SAD-3 and SCH-Z are, which supposedly aren't as good.

CHOUT 04.04.2008 12:42 AM

the SAD-3 took the place of the SAD-1 a while ago...not too good of reviews on that version...i'd like to try one, nontheless.

damn, now the effects thread is totally dying.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 04.04.2008 11:42 AM

I used to use the SAD-3. It wasn't bad for ambience.

I'm probably going to pick up an SMMH this week.

Gotcha, I didn't realize the difference in the models on the Arion pedals.

Don't you guys always wonder why companies release new pedals that mess with the perfection of their older ones and end up being crappy?
