A couple of months ago shortly preceeding the start of a long spell apart due to my freinds' travelling, we decided to make eachother the compilation to end all compilations. Basically our all time favourite tracks. I thought long and hard about the SY tracks, I settled on three, Theresa's Sound World and Shadow of A Doubt and decided that JC had to be on there due to the sheer beauty of the peice, I always find it really moving when lyrics are really drowning in guitar noise like they are here (No More Sorry by MBV, same effect, same emotional response) and the lyrics are just so moving particularly if you know what they're about. We each wrote a paragraph on why we like the songs/ bands, heres a little of what I wrote about JC:
"JC, from the same album, is one of the Sonic’s most feedback laden tracks, its written about Joe Cole, a Black Flag roadie and the frontman Henry Rollin’s best friend, who was shot dead in a robbery at his home in ’91. It’s incredibly moving and always makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Its certainly Kim's finest hour, probably the bands'. Music to die to."
