anyone know when the manchester gig is? i am at work so cant really check.
would be tonight, sir
motherfucking cunting shit fuck i cant make it, still i have seen them several times before.
my opinion about the markers changes almost daily. i think ive decided that they started off as a boring noise for noise sakes band, but boss was very good and a step in the right direction, and they have potential to do great things.
does anyone else think that they sound sort of like led zeppelin's more psychedelic moments, but you know, noiseier? |
"I am generally thinking about wanting to sound more like H.R. from the Bad Brains, John Joseph from the Cro-Mags and Keith Morris from Black Flag," says Ambrogio. "I wish I could think like Conlon Nancarrow and Don Van Vliet. I generally wish I could play sweeter licks on my guitar. I had never liked the no-wave stuff I’d heard until I heard Red Transistor and then Teenage Jesus, but that came pretty late into my music listening. In my mind I am trying to sound like either Minor Threat or Led Zeppelin, but it comes out sounding like it does."

personally, I preferred Markers earlier material. Boss is cool though
wow, i thought i was gonna be totally alone on that one.
wow, i just read that article, their influences are actually very similar to mine:
beefheart, sonic youth, zeppelin, no wave, hardcore, krautrock, dance music, shit. |
glad you have enjoyed gig in Cardiff. thanks for youtube links. I scored that 7" split with Vampire Belt as well. can't wait to hear it.
its fucking great rich.. did you go to the corsano flaherty gig in dublin last week rich?
no I didn't in the end. have seen him @ atp tho, so I'm ok.
Pauly, can you rip that 7" somehow and share it in group? did you scored anything else? I bougth some cd's of Pete as well. one is his project Spectre Folk and second cd is some unknown Magik Markers.....sy group....soon. why, why I forgot about tshirt? don't tell me they had some. coz I have a feeling you wrote above that you bought some. aghrrr. *edit* Spectre Folk is fantastic, chill out, but fantastic. |

Did they do "Last of the Lemach Line"? Not that I'm going to get a chance to see them live, but if I were, I can't decide whether or not I'd want to see them do that song. I think it's just one of the most mind-blowing things ever captured on record, with the nuances and progression seeming both perfectly planned and totally, passionately in the moment. I'd be afraid that seeing it live, they would do something different that took away from it. But from the sounds of their live performances, maybe they would make it even better. Arrrghhh! This is a stupid quandry to be in, considering it's completely hypothetical. But I'm still curious.
yes they did, in parts. nothing like the recorded version. probably improvisied most and adlibs lyrics and such.... fuck all this muso talk... its the markers. so did they play it? not in full.....
