No, seriously, in a way, I dress to feel good about myself. But it's not as important as other things.

Yes, but about 8 years ago, baggy pants would have been "in", I suppose.
"Skinny" is much more flattering, and not only for the sake of reputation.

Flop, you are back. I missed you dearly, no pics of you? Let me go check.

No, people aren't. You can only see, hear, sense what is on the surface. How can you tell someone's a puddle or an ocean? You can't look through someone. The surface is either pretty or it isn't. What people say and do is part of the surface, too, but it's equally important how they say and do it.

I think image is important, especially with teenagers, but I wouldn't say I'm too self-conscious.

screamingskull 04.27.2008 06:21 AM

personality is much more important.

The majority of very attractive people that i meet are douches.

Derek 04.27.2008 06:32 AM

That's very true.

ZEROpumpkins 04.27.2008 06:57 AM

I think it's a bit shallow to be hung up on someone's looks. But it helps if the person you like isn't bad to look at.

super_charger 04.27.2008 08:36 AM

I'm basically a jeans and t-shirts kind of guy, but I guess image is sort of important to me in an inverse way. For example, I would never be caught wearing skinny jeans or a pink polo shirt or a little hankerchief tied around my neck.

gmku 04.27.2008 10:13 AM

Skinny jeans rule, dude.

demonrail666 04.27.2008 12:42 PM

I honestly don't put much stock in clothes, hair styles, etc. At least regarding myself. Saying that, I do admire those with the time, energy and insight to create something interesting for themselves. The problem is that too many image conscious people I've met have proven to have little else to them beyond that.

batreleaser 04.27.2008 02:10 PM

well, lets be honest here. looks are important, they are always the first thing you notice about a person. once you know someone, and grow to care about a person, thats when looks will be less important.

!@#$%! 04.27.2008 02:19 PM

anyway, on the subject of this silly thread:

i care enough to have bought a fancy antenna

but not enough to pay monthly for cable.

jon boy 04.27.2008 03:01 PM

i guess to a certain extent personal image and how we want to be perceived enters all of our conciousness.

demonrail666 04.27.2008 03:05 PM

Personal image at my age merely means recognising the need to wear black in order to partially disguise certain beer-belly issues.

and that.

jonathan 04.27.2008 04:42 PM

I think its important to represent yourself accurately. If you feel the need to buy expensive clothes and where them, then you should because you have a need to do so.

If you don't, then you shouldn't.

I don't like to spend money on clothes, so I don't.

Toilet & Bowels 04.27.2008 07:38 PM

by what scale does one measure the importance of image?
