Funny thing is, back in 1986 the Flaming Lips were covering "Death Valley '69" but they were also dissing Sonic Youth for "doing exactly what their audience wants them to do" (a more ridiculous slam couldn't be made of course!) Obviously Wayne's grown up a bit since those days.

I'm seeing the Flaming Lips this saturday, seen them once before in 2006. I have the "Feerless Freaks" DVD and I have a hard time believing Wayne is as sincere/optimistic as he is...and 'drug free'! I don't mean that I think he's bullshitting but he just comes across soooo into it etc.... just seems like he must be dipping into some sort of vice.
