Yeah, E=MC2 is a great song. But Medicine Show wasn't too bad either, or V 13. Their overall sound has dated horribly, but at least they were having a go. It's like they took the Sandinista album as their model and just went for it. It may not have all worked (as was the case with a good 60% of Sandinista), but their first album at least, I still believe, was a bit of a cracker. It had 'Bottom Line' on it ffs. Great tune.

And I really like Mick Jones despite his seemingly desperate need to hang out with the latest Clash-a-like singer/band.

All of the first four or five albums had good stuff on, particularly No. 10 Upping Street (worst album title since Combat Rock), which had some decent Strummer/Jones tunes (V. Thirteen for example).

Never heard of Phish. Sound like twats.

i'm totally baffled as to how the grateful dead inspire such strong and shaply divided opinions in anyone, i just find them rather dull.

Their fans inspire rabid hatred because they are so very very annoying.
