i can't understand going to see melt-banana and not moving.
it's totally involuntary. |
one of the best live bands on the planet, seen em three times, every time, mindblowing. i always tell this story, but last time i saw them in tucson in december, i went ridiculously early, before any of my friends were there. the opening bands were horrid, one all instrumental post-metal pelican type bullshit, and one all-girl slits ripoff. so, i went to the merch table to get a tshirt, and then i just kinda started helping the dude sell merch. he spoke no english, but he got the point. i stayed there selling merch with him till the line started piling up, he then gave me a couple shirts and agata's last solo record. i then got right in front of the stage, seriously like a foot away from agata and his countless effects.

oh, and the best part of a melt banana show; six short songs. they seriously do like six blazing fast loud ass songs in a minute, with yasuko introducing every song inbetween. they only did the last time i saw them but it was so fucking cool. i mean, theyre just so mindblowingly proficient and tight even when theyre making 5 second busts of noise (this is a band that went head to head with discordance axis).
