Cantankerous 07.24.2008 07:45 AM

oh i didn't realise he was in prison, i actually didn't know anything about him until i went to wikipedia, i just liked his stuff.

how the fuck does he have a son born last year if he's in jail, do nazis get conjugal visits?

MellySingsDoom 07.24.2008 07:46 AM

Great metal bands:

Celtic Frost
Unearthly Trance
Asva
Electric Wizard
Negura Bunget
Gallhammer
Neurosis (their CDs are OK, but they kill live).
Om
Isis

These are bands I've bought stuff by/seen live recently.

EDIT - Shit yeah, Burning Witch! Also, Converge - more a metal/hardcore hybrid, but absolutely incredible live.

Cantankerous 07.24.2008 07:48 AM

electric wizard are awesome

MellySingsDoom 07.24.2008 07:50 AM

Dopethrone > much other metal *sings "We Hate You" to self*

I first saw the Wizard in 1997, pissed out my mind on beer, and they were montrously loud, evil and great. They looked REALLY pissed off on stage too - like Altamont Hell's Angels playing metal.

MellySingsDoom 07.24.2008 08:01 AM

I like Burzum, but Varg Vikernes is clearly a cunt of the highest order. Still, who cares about him? He's in prison bitching to himself, and I'm planning a nice weekend and stuff.

Fave Burzum album - "Hvis Lyset Tarr Oss" for me - every track a winner.

Cantankerous 07.24.2008 08:03 AM

must get back to ass kickery now

demonrail666 07.24.2008 08:07 AM

Cantankerous 07.24.2008 08:20 AM

i can also play highway star

not just the beginning bit, any idiot can play that

i do believe i'm becoming something of a beast on my instrument

MellySingsDoom 07.24.2008 08:22 AM

Me and demon were talking about the intro riff to "Angel Of Death" last night - trying to play that is well difficult for me, not so much for the speed, but for the clinical precision. Can you play that decently enough?

demonrail666 07.24.2008 08:35 AM

I can play all of Cretin Hop now. Even the difficult bit!

therealglenstyler 07.24.2008 08:38 AM

metal-wize, currently i'm rockin to the sweet sounds of down's mighty NOLA, skid row's colosal slave to the grind, converge's skull-mashing no heroes, the ever-green bad brain's quickness, doomrider's monolithic black thunder, white zombie's horrifically poorly produced yet bananas and brill la sexorcisto, van halen's beautiful 1984, helmet's impressivly muscular betty and kyuss's welcome to sky valley.

i am also squooshed into my skinniest pants (in the u.k sense of the word), paisley winkle pickers, a bunch of scarfs and some busted aviators (on the day with the highest pollen count of the year so it looks like i'm crying as well). who wants to come see the murderdolls??

MellySingsDoom 07.24.2008 08:39 AM

I tried playing some of the tunes from the A-side of Napalm Death's "Scum" quite a while ago. The result:

I haven't heard much off it yet but what I have heard sounds pretty awesome, critical opinion seems place it <bustle in the hedgerow but >NOLA. foolishly i didn't go see them when they played in london. so many regrets....

Rob Instigator 07.24.2008 09:16 AM

I am a self-admitted ex-headbanger.

I grew up as a little kid on def leppard, van halen, quiet riot and motley crue (fave bands between age 8-12)
then
I was big into sabbath and early brit metal, l;ike Judas priest and Maiden.

After that I got into the thrash metal (metallica, megadeth, slayer, and whatever thrash was played on headbanger's ball!!!!)

I was really into testament for a while. don;t know why now.

Megadeth was my favorite though. I would play peace sells over and over and over and over again.

Once I found jane's addiction and sonic youth around age 16 I left the metal world behind. hair metal was just so fucking horrible and stupid.

I can still enjoy all my old metal faves. They still hold up.

Fight Fire With Fire by metallica on Ride The Lightning, is so fucking great.
(song only) http://youtube.com/watch?v=xjlgUx7_aN0
It starts off all pretty and melodic and then goes fucking apeshit around 40 seconds in!!!!

luckynumber9 07.24.2008 09:18 AM

The picture of Zebra Man just made this thread a lot more metal.

Rust in Peace, best Megadeth album ever. I'm talking about the non-remixed, non-re-recorded, non-remastered original version from 1990 of course.
